 Track work day No3!
« Thread Started on Jun 5, 2009, 8:30pm »

Hey guys and Gals,

The committee met earlier this week, one of the items on the Agenda was track maintenance. A number of suggestions for improvement were put forward based on members requests and suggestions along with committee opinion.

These include the following, in no particular order;

1: Repairs to the Kerb onto the straight from the banked corner, plus general kerb maintenance some of them have cracked and could do with re-painting.

2: Addition of a new fence between the Green cabin and the Caravan to allow a more spectators an opportunity to get closer to the action, this would also allow a suitable area for scrutineers at larger events.

3: Replacing the floor of the rostrum

4: Replacing the Steps, plus a possible re-location across the back of the green cabin.

5: Move the caravan aprox' two feet back away from the track to allow a better view of the pit area, this move also opens up possibilities of the pit lane being used as part of the track

6: Lay tarmac at the top of the thermometer to even out levels left to right (off racing line) This will allow a variation on track layout (intended to be run only on wet race days, as it avoids the dreaded "puddle")

7: Replace bolts at the bottom of the cabin door to increase security..

8: Re-pack the cabin to allow better / safer access

We are looking for volunteers to complete these tasks; over perhaps one or two Saturday sessions, as an incentive to all of you who come out and show your support for your club, free race meetings will be offered to those who attend.

However for the work to go ahead, we need an accurate idea of the costs involved in each job,

Regardless of weather conditions, perhaps we can take a look this Sunday!?? work party dates are to follow, dependant on when the majority of people are available.

Show your support by posting in this thread!

Sounds good, I'm in, and I love painting kerbs.

Could we prioritise, safety items first?

Sounds great to me! rest assured they'll not run on the weekend before/after an away meet to ensure the WAGS don't get too grotty!

This is going fantastic already everyone well done! :D :D :D :D :D

If you've got any tools, or spare tools that others can use perhaps it'd be good to post that also..

I should mention I'm in! haven't got a great deal of tools, but i've got battery drills a plenty.. possibly a portable circular saw..

Does anyone have some meaty welding equipment to pop the brackets back on the cabin??

Steve you're a legend! we might have a couple of Scaffold tubes in Keiths Back garden! if not a couple that are big enough and long enough to go from a few feet below ground to the handrail on the rostrum.. sturdy enough to take the weight of me, and ian newton, and Reuben and crabby! all at the same time!

P.S Simon do you fancy doing some painting again this year?

Yes, perhaps with a helper or two I can manage the repainting of the kerbs?

Will have to use quick-setting mortar for repairs first.

OK.. most of the supplies we can buy in ready to do these things and lock them in the cabin.. - but only if the cabin is neat and tidy.. first job up... a couple of volunteers to help tidy the cabin and all of it's contents.. ( it was packed quite neatly last year)

Shall we say this wednesday night? weather permitting...

Also ** Table amnesty... We've got a few tables that are in the cabin that aren't used regularly.. if you know who's it is can you write their name on it.. unclaimed ones may be binned **
