 scoring system
« Thread Started on Oct 10, 2009, 9:39am »

i have this idea for the points sysem for the SLCC, but it may b flawed.

the winner of the club championship should be the average points per driver + the square root of total points for that club, that way the club with the most drivers wont neccesarily win but a club with only a few drivers CANT win it as there avereage points may be gd but there total points wont be enough. my arguement is that if a club has lots and lots and lots of bad drivers then they will win the club championship due to numbers and a club 2/3 of the amount of drivers but they r all very good wont win it even tho they should because they r the "better" club. For example if club A had 70 drivers with an average points per drive of 300, their "score" would be 300 + SQR RT of 21000= 444.9

Club B has 50 Drivers with average points of 350 then their score would be 482.3 hence they would win. is that beter than the current system?

i no the numbers i used couldn't be possible but u no what im getting at

I raised this at the start of the season Dan.I do not for one moment think we did not deserve to win last year or this year. As a club we have supported the series as much as any club and more than most.

But it did seem to me a bit unfair on the smaller clubs, I was particularly thinking of Yeovil, who don't stand a cat in hells chance of winning.

If they fielded 9 drivers and finished 1,2,3 in each of the classes and we fielded 15 drivers all finishing in C finals we would beat them. May be that is just the way it has to be, I sure don't know what the answer is.

One answer is to have a manufacturer's cup (Ian?). If Yeovil all changed to T3s they could win that 8-)

i didnt say that the club didnt deserve to win, i just agree that clubs like yeovil and others like it should stand a chance, however my system is not so biased that a club with 1 excellent driver is gonna win as the majority of the points will be the SQR RT of the total. it just gives the top 3 or 4 clubs equal chances of winning without being unduly advantageous towards strength in numbers.

Sorry Dan, to be clear, it wasn't my intent to infer you were saying the club didn't deserve to win, of course we did ;)

I agree with Dan in that there should be a way that a club with less enterants could win the club championship, but as Ian said every way has a flaw.
Scrap the club chamionship maybe and then award an overall trophy/certificate for everyone that has completed "x" number of rounds ;D
