Oh dear oh dear ....those Sweeps they caused me some issues! Unfortunately having never tested the Sweeps on a hot high grip track caught me out big style!! ,Saturdays testing was fine but Sundays track temp proved too hot for my set up with the new found 13.5 speeds. My cars blistering pace in the first round(cool track) just died away later in the day.I was stupidly chasing what I thought was a diff or rear grip issue (the rear braking away ) in fact the rear Tyre's were badly over heating,It was not until it was all over another TOP team driver spotted my mistake.I managed with a very poor handling car to scrape into the bottom of the A main but the finals were a disaster...Still, lesson well learned "the hard way" but easily cured for next time. Serious note:This prob of overheating rear tyres might not of affected the 17.5 class. But my humble apologies to the other Photon drivers who may have suffered this prob with my suggested set up

the track was very grippy sunday compared to saturday and the heat didnt help indeed. I went out with a setup that i was hoping the track would grip up to, but expected to have loads of understeer in round 1. But it was quite the opposite, the setup was nailed in round 1 and 2, but by round 3 on new tyres - the car was really sketchy for first few laps.
The tyres plaqued me saturday with the front being to snatchy and grippy - causing the back to become loose very quickly. a few changes to suspension, angles & flex sorted it out and i was happy with the performance of the car on the tyres - however, my only gripe is they do not stand up to impact at all - if you come off or hit a curb, check your tyres after the run and have some glue ready.

Un fortunatly there is still some of the old sets of Sweeps about.the mater is been delt with!
Even though the Sweep 32 is a good compound there is quite an Air gap between the insert and the tyre so this will cause them to heat up quiclkly, also a large air gap will make the car "dance around" some especialy on such a fast banked track with quick directon changes such as Aldershot.

My car was nearly totaly rebuilt befor Aldershot. Its was stripped to be cleaned tonight,I can confirm the 13.5 new speeds is deffo 10.5 plus wear and tare to your susspention and transmission

At the Thursday pre practice, for the last run of the day I put a new( +5 or 6 laps slow scrub in) set of Sweeps on the car. For the most part the car did not handle very well but some others were struggling and I put it down to the grip on the track having gone.
I took the tyres off tonight and found that one of the rears had delaminated from the rim for a third of the circumference. No wonder the car wasn’t handling!
It’s all very well saying check them after a race and glue them back but if they delaminate like that during a race you are stuffed. If the other 2 sets are like that then that is £60 down the drain. And they were only bought 6 or 7 weeks back. Disgusting I say. And I wouldn’t even bother using them for a club race because their diameter is +.75mm over Sorexes which means re-setting up the car before using them. You can’t just take off a set of Sorexes and chuck them on. Well you can obviously but you know what I mean.

They do come unglued mid run.
my rear one came unglued as I moved out of the way of a faster driver and clipped a wall, most tyres would have survived and the car carry on per normal (it was the faintest of touches). I was in 4th at this point and a good 3 corner lead on any other of the pack. but then due to the tyre not being glued anymore, right turns became a nightmare - car would just let the rear go with any turn applied (which meant the rear letting go through the chicane and 3 cars who had pulled back the gap because i wasnt able to turn as fast, going through). managed to keep 7th, but was royally annoyed at the tyres at that point.
sure I could have waited to move out of the way and hold up the 2nd place car for the 2nd big sweeper (who was chasing 1st).

Theres nothing wrong with the tyre compound its how they are glued (not delamination of the rubber) I expect little Wang Chow Fat forgot to squeeze the tyre to allow the glue to capillary around the inner bead, also IMHO there is probably too much air gap between the insert and inner tyre face, but this is probably the excessive grip my car generates in high grip...Apperently all this is cured in the new batch, its just unfortunate that a few old sets filtered through.
Miffed about the rubber on the day?? oh yes!! a tyre came unglued during my only clear qually causing me to slow down and be a lap off my normal Aldershot pace.
On the funny side I had a pair of rears explode simultaneously down the strait during practice, very spectacular but a bit of a "bum" twitcher ;D
Explode: the rubber comes off the rim suddenly, the tyre quickly balloons then splits in half in a nano second at high speed.
