Weather permitting Ian Newton and I should be camping "Beers and BBQ" Contrary to belief Yately is a bit of "grunt " track, power is needed along with bloody good brakes! It has a deceivingly long strait that's an up hill pull. The dreaded part for the Newby to the track is the short strait to middle hair pin,its a hair pin that has wicked adverse camber, the wider you go the worse it gets driving you out even further "a deffo lap time killer!!" ..Then there's the down hill chicane ,it looks easy but is hard to get the entry line right plus cars coming towards you "down hill" so it Carry's more speed than you think into a nasty little right hander that needs absolute perfect braking, brake really early here and you wont go wrong 80% of a Yately lap is either driven towards or away from you so this makes braking and turning points hard to judge, the other 20% is the right to left twiddly bits and thats directly under your nose..Good luck to thoses Newbys to this track,Its a hard one to get fast!!

i love your track previews les! i have looked at a picture of the layout - i would hate to learn to drive there - to much driving towards yourself bids for confusion, hopefully i wont be making that mistake at this stage

hopefully i wont be making that mistake at this stage I bet you do, and I bet you at least once Bin it!. Les is right, even doing 17.5 there last year at old 17.5 speeds was a challenge to get it right a few times, let alone lap after lap. One of my fav tracks due to difficulty though, looking forward to it.

I'm sure I will bin it Reubes. But will it be because of turning right when I should be left, I'm not so sure...?

not sure, but its very tricky set of corners. I binned it there a fair few times last year and probably will do something spectacular on the curbs this year

I'm sure I will bin it Reubes. But will it be because of turning right when I should be left, I'm not so sure...? It aint that bad Martin but it will feel totally alien to the Yately virgin ... just take it very very easy,But im not exaggerating about the midle hair pin "the bomb hole" go any more than a foot off the apex(adverse camber gets bad this far out) with any speed and you will be into a world of understeer and grass ;D.....most "first timers" drop into the bomb hole on their first or second lap.....I still do

I know the track is open from 8am onSunday but anyone know what time the gates to the school open? I heard the gates will be open from 6:30am tomorrow. Not sure if that's the main gate to the school though, or the side gate?

Yeh I had a great time too. Plenty of racing, plenty of action. Shame about a few of the politics, but thats racing I guess.
Happy with 2nd Overall - considering as I had 2 rounds where I only completed 1 final.
A Big thank you to Ian N for sticking with the series and running it this year, its fair to Say it ended on a high for me.

Today was good fun! I tried my hardest to do what was required! and almost suceeded!
A cut tyre and a broken rear shock tower finished my day with a really tail happy car!
We'll see what happens to SLCC next year, I've asked Ian who's interested in running it - he wont tell me! I maybe with a little help.
Many thanks to Ian for managing a series whilst our hobby is in a state of such change!

Well.. I think there was a little luck in my corner today...
I took 1st in Stock, and 2nd Overall in the championship.
Had some great racing today and got my heart pumping a few times with the excitement of the fast close racing, on what is in my opinion a 'Fantastic Track!!'. Excellent stuff.
Good to so see many happy faces today too.
Thanks to Mike for the bacon butties.. ;D
And special thanks to Ian Newton. Its been a tough series to manage this year, and don't think all your hard work has not been appreciated.. You did a great job and I for one am thankful to you.
