Thinking about trying my hand at racing stock 17.5 blinky, could anyone help advise me in a good starting point for gear ratio? Was thinking, fdr of 4.3 or is that going to be over geared around bashley?

Try 3.7 to start and add teeth from there, ending up around 3.4 ish depending on driver.

As Reuben says, 3.7ish is a good starting point, unlikely to cook the motor. I do think though it is influenced by the speedo even though it is blinkey.
We headed towards 3.4 (as the holy grail??) with our Tekin but backed off and are currently on 3.61.
It will of course also be impacted by the motor timing you have set.
Our 3.61 is on a Nosram with the motor timing set to a fairly low position although I have no idea what that equates to in reality.

Can only get down to an fdr of 3.94 with pinion and spurs I have available. So I'll just have to stick 10deg of timing on the motor (speed passion v3) and hope it can keep pace down the straight. Many thanks for the advice though!
