Haha.. Well, My initial thoughts are that we could all take part in making things like videos for You Tube (Videos of some quallys/finals, members talking about the club and their cars etc), I don't think I could commit the to manage everything alone (Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, AdWords, School Fete Planning etc..) But could certainly contribute as much as I can.
I am quite aware that doing nothing or just expecting someone else to do it all is not the answer for our club if we want it to continue. But i'm more than happy to try and do my bit.
Wouldn't it be awesome to get a full field again week in week out, like the good ol'days.
I'm also happy to volunteer as RD this year on meetings where I am able to make it, if that helps the club at all?

FWIW I just pinged the facebook page around a bit. www.facebook.com/pages/South-Hants-Model-Car-Club-SHMCC/110699008986242Needs some more likes :-) Forgive me if you've already thought of these, but some ideas :- * Running an outdoor race meet on New Milton rec when the pedal car GP or whatever special days are on in NM. * Punting some posters near the skateboard park or some other area kids hang out. * Opening up to some other classes. Theres a few clubs nearby doing Bangers and stock car type meets. Might be able to squeeze in some of those guys. And GT12s are almost in the same 'oval' type league. * You mention charity events. This is good, and could get some publicity in local rags. * Constantly nattering about model cars in social networks, Facebook & Twitter. Love 'em or hate em, it's where the cool kids hang out. But just having a page is good but isn't enough, It needs activity to stay current. Maybe at the least publish the race results after each meeting. (I can do this if someone emails me with them) - But we need to get some of this forum chatter onto the social interwebs (no matter how much you hate it :-) Personally I like the idea of getting an outdoor race set up at some of those other town events, fetes, carnivals, gp etc. The ones I've been to have always attracted attention. Sway fete is also another good location nearby & theirs is in July I think. I don't want to see us losing either indoor or outdoor and am happy to help where I can. I can volunteer for updating the social webs if you like, but it'll be better if theres some chatter there too.. (Please like our page :-) / FWIW B

Sounds good Bruce.. I actually forgot we already had a page for Facebook already.. I also just realised we have a wealth of Photos on our website, perhaps we should start also posting them on to our social media sites. As well as, as you say race results (Probably just overall qualifying and final results). Who manages the Facebook Page presently? Can we get the profile pic updated to something like this? Possibly with the club logo somewhere on it? I think we also need to remove all the old expired events too, as they are no longer relevant, oh and the Event logo needs to be square so it appears in the preview nicely.

Oh Bruce I think you just talked yourself into a job. The Facebook page is a bit dated or at least most of the info and comments so lets all get on there and give it some welly to get it noticed. Even me and I have no idea what I am doing!

Ok, deal.
If you've got any of those lovely newsletter articles, photos, anything, I'll start posting them periodically to keep the group alive.
Even a few words every now and again. And if Dave gets me the results pages, I'll post 'em.
Someone's been posting bits and pieces and events last year, so it's not dead, just needs a bit of activity.
Try joining that bangers group to see what I mean.

Might want to talk to Mike Vale re facebook page guys as he was involved early on as was Liam Pettit..
I made a start on the website by clearing out all of the old news articals and adding some new ones, so let me know if there is anything new news??
I'll make a start on the results page and see if I can find a way of archiving off the old results..
I could also link the FB page from the front page but I think we should probably wait until it's been refreshed.. Also we probably need to make a decision on the FB page and this forum as I believe we should only have one main site for interaction so we don't risk diluting the message!
God, does that mean I've got to cave in and sign up to face ache??

Nice one Dave, how about we also update the map on our website to a google map, which will be interactive and can allow people to get driving directions to us directly from our web page.
Can you embed this iframe instead of the map photo?
<iframe src="https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d2523.1916759487594!2d-1.6426384000000152!3d50.77202029999981!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x487384eccbfe17b9%3A0x2b66eb3d4c33f57!2sSouth+Hants+Model+Car+Club!5e0!3m2!1sen!2s!4v1394128019151" width="600" height="450" frameborder="0" style="border:0"></iframe>

Facebook is probably the best place for broadcasting the club to the masses to be fair!
Perhaps a section on oople aswell if there isn't one already?

I keep meaning to get on top of the fb page lol. I can add people as admins so we have a pool of racers to help keep it up to date. If you fancy being on that let me know

Cool sounds like a plan.
I don't mind being an admin if it helps spread the load. Although its an open group so anyone can post anyway.
Looking better already :-)

Facebook is probably the best place for broadcasting the club to the masses to be fair! Perhaps a section on oople aswell if there isn't one already? Hi there, Currently gathering up some gear to give racing another try after many years, Having raced at Bashley village hall and at Danestream Farm previously and hoping to return in a few weeks, however reading through the comments its sad to see what used to be thriving racing community seems to be going the way of the Dodo. Having had to do a bit of research to get a little knowledge of the cars of today and find some decent second hand gear ive been trawling through alot of RC forums and throughout my internet journey i have found very little references to SHMCC. As the above comment was made why have you not asked for a section on oOple? IMO its the best UK based RC forum i have found and could give some welcome publicity for SHMCC, Although there have been comments made of how to bring new drivers into the sport there seems to be a lack of talk about how to get people that already race over to SHMCC. If people dont know you exist then they will never come regardless of wether they currently race or not. If people are interested in model car racing or a current racer then they will find oOple like i did and then look down the list of clubs in the UK to find there local track. There seems to be alot of activity on there so could get some genuine interest from current and new racers alike. Just my 2ps worth.

Hi Andy,
would be good to see you back racing.. Good point regarding Oople I'll have a look into whats needed.. With the demise of both Reality and Lesro as real shops we are now looking to get listed on several on line retailers web sites and of course we are still listed in the BRCA club list abit with the wrong website address!!
Thanks for joining the forum :-)
