Hello all,
My lad has purchased a Supastox with his savings/Christmas money.
It's a 1s chassis, and at the moment he has a cheap brushed ESC, Tamiya silver can motor and a single 4 cell NiMH battery.
He is going to get himself a new battery for it. But I'm not sure if he should go 1s lipo or 2s shorty lipo. It seems a lot of people run 1s with a Speed Passion ESC, but a 2s would probably be better for him as he could still use it in his touring car.
So my real question is if he gets a 2s lipo, will this be legal at the SHMCC indoor meetings?
Thanks in advance,
Tony.

Not sure on the legality of 2s, but you can get the core combo for it pretty cheaply.
You get the core esc, speed passion 13.5 motor and core 1s battery.
That's what id buy!

Hi Tony, at the very moment we would allow a 2s lipo setup with a 21.5T motor as per old BRCA rules for the class.. However I notice BRCA have now dropped the 2s / 21.5T from it's rules BRCA GT12 RulesSo a 2s setup will quickly become less usable, I also note SICC GT12 class does not allow a 2s / 21.5T setup anymore.. There will be a lot of people who won't be to chuffed after buying into a 2s setup...

Thanks all. I'll tell him he needs to save up a little more and get the 1s setup. Lucky I asked really as I was about to click buy on a 2s lipo earlier on.

I've gone and won a Supastox on ebay as well (Sean bought his new). It is 1s with 17.5 brushless so it looks like I'll have to replace the motor at least. More expenditure!

The SICC website only mentions speed controllers to be on the brca list.As for motors it just states 13.5t single cell lipo. The way I read that is that any 13.5t motor would be ok. What motor do You have?

I've got two, a Losi Xcelorin and a Lipotech XR (http://www.redrc.net/2009/10/lipotech-xr-series-brushless-motors/). Both were ebay cheapies (one came with a car).

Can anyone suggest a good starting point for gear ratio on these things? Or a pinion (I have the gear chart so can work backwards from that).
Thanks in advance,
Tony.
