OK everyone,
i have been talking to some people recently about what paint can be used for bodyshells! I usually use the fastrax paint and have always got on well with it, i also have some tamiya paint but didn't like the way that it coated for some reason, it seamed relay thick to me when sprayed and it flaked off the shells that i painted. i always prepped the same way to by scuffing up the shell with a scouring pad and then cleaning with hot water and allowing to dry thoroughly so why it flaked off is beyond me! and the fact that the cans are smaller than the fastrax and more expensive just doesn't do it for me.
So the main question is what else is out there to use as a substitute, i have heard it mentioned that you can get some other paint from hobby-craft which is a lexan paint? is it as good as the fastrax? or are there any else that are out there.
Discuss!

I use Acrylic mainly as it is more readily available. If painting from cans that is. Mainly use the airbrush now as paint lasts longer. Just a pain having to clean it out after every colour though.

Not going to be of any help I'm afraid as tend to pick it up from a littel toy shop in Oxford when I am up there. Not sure where you would get it from round here.
You can always borrow the airbrush if you want.

What brand do you buy Ian? Only asking as Wilkinsons in Shirley sell some acrylic paint.

cannot remember the brand off hand will look tonight. Have a look on the cans as they usually specify what you can paint with them but as I use Acrylic in the air brush I guess any will do.

Just for interest. Not having a local model shop to buy polycarbonate paint from I have been looking around online. E Bay seems very very expensive and to be honest few other places will ship paint. However I have discovered a place called "The Model Basement" A fairly conventional model shop that sells and will ship polycarbonate paint on a next day delivery. Have ordered 4 tins of Fastrax paint and including next day delivery was £21. A fiver a can (plus a bit) which seems reasonable. They have a vast selection of different types and colours and brands so may just be a good place to go. I have spoken to them today and they assure me I will get my paint tomorrow. Looking at the cost and effort of having to drive to a model shop and then pay the same if not more this seems like a good place to go. Might have to check out their other bits as well if they are this good.
