Following on from the announcement that we could be running control tyres from next year id like to throw a spanner into the works...
It would appear that in response to Contact releasing their control tyre JFT have done the same but actually based it on a winning compound opposed to the apparent rubbish Contact have gone with.
I personally have run 35s on most outings as Im sure most others do, and have no problem with grip and driveability. Whilst I'm actively keen for us to all be running the same compound and "level the playing field" as Derek put it, im not overly keen to be running a set of tyres that clearly dont work.
As Terry, Paul and Darren have all experimented (Along with a host of others around the UK) and with very little success its clear to me that they don't work, with Terry going from 5th in the B final to 2nd in the A with simply a Tyre change it says it all! Sure we can try to set up our cars to account for the lack of mechanical grip but with little time between races on Wednesdays it ends up stressful as you frantically try new things to no avail!
The JFT control tyre is the S35 that most of us use, its a little bit more expensive of which ill admit makes it less attractive than the Contact version but when you cant have a decent race and in my opinion any fun because the tyre has as much grip as a flip flop on ice it ruins the experience. (For me anyway)
Heres a link to the JFT tyres, they carry the same green band as the Contact versions so are easily identified.

By no means am i saying i wont use the contact versions if that's what the majority agree with, the purpose of the above is to simply ask what everyone else would prefer as there is clearly an alternative that should be considered.
Thoughts?
