hi , as you say les a motor can only use what its given ! i know 2 people using the stock spec speedo and both have blown there motors !!! that tells me to much power is being supplied . or they are over geared . comparing speed at slcc jays car was fastest and he was using the speed passion pro1.1 ! , i was using the newer more powerful speedo the 2.0 pro , the difference was mine was sooooo hot and js wasnt ! timing is a bad thing as it makes the temp rise and personally i think it all in our heads ! get the gearing right and it will be fast ive done soooo much testing and always go back to 30 deg on speedo and 5mm on motor

Whilst i accept carpet and tarmac are very different surfaces etc John P was running a pearl with 13.5 last night at hamworthy and managed to keep a loada 10.5s behind him quite easily.. the brakes and punch seemed immense on the pearl... Am I book quoting yet? - it also says in the instructions that it does timing advance to a certain extent. but not like the stock spec did on les's i'm sure...

Thanks for the input...regarding the stock spec thats exactly what I found..luckely enough I was sensible to check temp first time out(short run)with my previously known FDR,and ended up with a fairly lower gearing after finding the motor ran somewhat hotter after 3mins....droping my Known Aldershot 10.5 gearing to nearly a Bashley ratio worked and the motor flew....not knowing this I expect thats why one or two motors have popped. One or two of the lads have PM'ed me regarding the stock spec..I did stress its early days to tell whats best, but should any one get one, drop your known gearing (higher ratio) by 0.3/0.4 to start with and temp check carefully, stick to punch 7 (8 max)...relearn your motors fdrs!....the brakes were better though

interestingly could it be a faulty few speedo's?
Eg my new stock spec put it in the car today, did 1 very slow careful lap and the car stopped...
now the esc just smokes and the motor is ruined and caramalised!
I will be phoning mirage monday for a return. But what are the chances of them replacing my motor as well.

Are you stuck for a speedo/ motor...Ill have gear with me that will directly fit...yes Im racing tomorrow Ps Matt most current BL speedos advance the timing to a degree "excuse the pun"....tomorrow in 17.5 or 13.5 will tell me a lot about this new stock spec speedo on short tracks.

Ok three new type speedos were run in heats yesterday and one in evening practice by another member. all four were different but still had some sort of boost or non normal timing advance...its very early days to compare but one thing seems comon to them all ...FDR's had to be changed, some more than others(not sure about Johns Pearl)..should any of our newer drivers try one of theses 2nd gen speedos please, please moniter your temps carefully or risk damaging a motor/speedo....start with a higher ratio (less teeth on pinion) at least 3 (48dp) more (64dp) and check temp after a short run 2/3 mins.
