As scuttlebutt starts to hit the airwaves, two interesting posts on racechat. The first is good, colour remains black and orange. In these days of uncertainty some stability helps in life The second ,not so good, reports Elliott was running one at Rugracers - minor improvements over 009. In which case it should be called an 010. But then you wouldn't necessarily note class redefining shocks from an exterior view ;D

Ref T3 pic's:Nice and interesting, lets hope Xray have left the 008/9 diff alone and hopefully up graded those nasty kit shocks. In the little comments below some racer recons he has spotted "many" Photon parts ....hmmm me thinks he may need to go to Spec savers ;D...I cant see any

3 roll bar positions on the wishbone? or are they shock mounts for reversible arms... also that whole top deck has to come off to get that spur out :S thats 11 screws plus whatever is needed to loosen the steering post. So Pete, when is yours on order? reckon you could get that down to 1350

So Pete, when is yours on order? reckon you could get that down to 1350 Looks like it Reuben, a three position rear drop link point,a nice touch to change quickly for track side testing, but I never did like the moulded ball idea, they could easily snap off if you were a bit ham fisted removing the roll bar drop link in a hurry, especially on the front (moulded ball hidden in the wishbone webbing) Pete's T3 down to 1350...Nah not with his wiring ;D

for what it's worth, I chatted to Andy Moore about the Cyclone at Cotswolds in the summer, the car he was running back then had a one piece top deck, similar to this one, he mentioned stuff like it feeling better to drive, so perhaps a step back in the pits is a step forwards on the track.. obviously.. only Pete, and Glenn will be able to give us an answer on that when the kits become available!

What does the different position do to the bar and the handling? I have never changed mine but with 3 to choose form the curiosity will be overwhelming

So Pete, when is yours on order? reckon you could get that down to 1350 Its 13, potentially 14 screws Reuben But I run the top deck quite loose at Bashley, using 8 out of 13, or is it 15? You don't loosen the steering post on an XRAY Well Craig reckons if it is good enough for Elliott it is good enough for him but Dad has got his eye on a new Sony Blue-ray player and digital a/v receiver, so we will have to wait and see ;D

No need Matt, our T1R had a single top deck and IMHO the 009 rides better with the two piece ;D ;D

Seriously Matt, the 009 has different top decks tuned to carpet and asphalt so as a pre-production car (?) the photos might not be telling the end story - after all the car is on carpet ha ha

I'm looking forward to seeing one in the flesh, fingers crossed I might see one on Friday!?? Sadly tho, as good as they seem to go in the right hands on carpet and asphalt, I couldn't cope with the transition to orange... I thought only a few weeks ago there was a post from Martin Hudy on REDrc saying it'd be delayed whilst they worked with the proposed weight limit.. who knows!

What does the different position do to the bar and the handling? I have never changed mine but with 3 to choose form the curiosity will be overwhelming Pete moving the drop link positions is an easier way of changing the roll rather than changing the whole bar ie the inner position gives more roll ,softer, theoreticaly more grip in tight slowish bends, but moving the link outwards stiffens the roll bar effect, this can also give better grip/traction in high speed sweepers by keeping the rear flat.example can help stabalise the rear, stop the rear from stepping out on a fast banking such as Aldershots

It's not just the T3 Matt. They are adjustable on the 009 and 008 - can't recall if my T2 006 is adjustable too.

T3 now officially launched and details and official pics on the XRAY website There isn’t a list of new things but it seems to me Drivetrain Standardised on the 1.9 ratio Diff seems to be retained Alternative driveline positioning depending on whether you want to run Lipos on NiMHs Bulkheads Motor mount moved yet further inboard, by 3mm Separate mounts for the lower suspension arms so they are connected directly to the chassis rather than the bulkheads Raised 2mm to give greater clearance of lipos New top deck – it seems chassis flex is now controlled primarily through the top deck, but that is not totally clear Standard springs now have a 2 step difference front to rear; ie c2.8s changed to C3 Aluminium lightweight turnbuckles? (does the 009 have alu or steel) New steering blocks Kit comes with the lightweight driveshaft and axles all round New setup book (hopefully now includes comments on the various new setup options introduce over the past 3years) Majority of 009 parts interchangeable And finally,no changes to the shocks

The photon is 4 screws and i believe the mi4 is 2. Just shows the difference in car designs.

when i changed the diff on my pro4 it was umpteen screws and stripped threads that was fun ;D that must be the reason you guys only did 17.5 a few times last year... not the speed or free time on sunday, but the fact that it took a month to re-build the car Yes the Mi4 is technically 2 screws, but if you also remove the 2 on the camber plate - makes moving the diff in and out so so much easier...
