We'll be there Sat and Sun and hopefully Thu too. Nothing much to do, car was fine (it says XRAY but it's not really ;D) gearing is unfathomably dubious, so its just a question of going round and round and round to find another .5 sec. Still the 5th in the A on Sunday should have been a 4th so there's some hope yet but not much unless we can find that raw speed.

Those up there yesterday were privileged to see some of the top guys running Mod. Elliott was awesome. Funny thing was though he was an XRAY driver last year and whilst the reliable XRAYS completed the final OK he broke down on the 2nd lap or 3rd lap. I bet he was thinking........ ;D Oh and little Yellowshark's eyes lit up so much he is already saving for his 6.5 Tekin

Still the 5th in the A on Sunday should have been a 4th so there's some hope yet but not much unless we can find that raw speed. Unless you can bang in sub 15sec laps it will be hard to do well, even then if the extra power is found will the car's set up handle it??....Im made this misstake earlier in the year.Got the car working well with old gen gear, found some speed and had to alter the compleet set up on Sunday to handle the extra power ...Set up for stability to carry the new found speed round the top and infeild sweepers is critical. At the moment Pete Craigs 10.5 is slower with grunt and top end, than my 13.5/LRP..good luck you have some work to do,Have a chat with Jamie Vasilio on Sat for a Vagas Profile(a good 10.5 driver)....10.5's this year will need to be close to last years mod speeds....from what I saw on Sunday none of the 10.5 drivers had this sort of pace,in fact most of them were slower than my 13.5 group.

Saturday practice is going to be something like:
ALL Morning doing speedo setup to get some speed.
Afternoon doing basic car setup and then getting the tyres to work somehow and fine tuning setup when the grip comes up later in practice.
Its going to be and early start a late finish and many many laps and lipo cycles - thank christ for 2 lipos and not needing 20 nimh packs!

Im looking forward to spectating the 17.5 class.I think well hooked up combo is capable of a reasonable 20 lapper,Ian Newtons speedo was quite quick but no where near right...nor was his Apex's...but 19.311 aint bad(but his Photon was perfect ;D) Its bloody hard to find a sweet spot with theses new gen ESC's,there's so many parameters to sort....good luck to you all, just remember Max settings are not necessarily the fastest way...only to a blown motor

By the way, would it be possible for myself and martin borrowed the club generator for the weekend? I'm certain that for whatever reason my 12v won't get through it...lol

I'm certain that for whatever reason my 12v won't get through it...lol Aldershot are a bit funny about genys, they will have to placed well away from the track so take a very long extension with you. One cheat to top up your battery is to couple it to your car via some jump leads or heavy duty wire with bull dog clips and leave it ticking over for a couple of hours. Ps if you are get stuck I allways carry a spare battery

The Aldershot track is closed to practice unless you're a club member Pete, have you joined??? Yeah I joined Craig a couple of months back precisely for that reason so we could get some serious 10.5 practice in for the Juniors and track practice in for the Nats but Sunday was our first visit hence our lack of blistering speed. The good thing was the 009 handled reasonably without a single change apart from heavier oil in the front for the final, which worked a treat. And I tweaked the timing a bit but it wasn’t the environment for wholesale changes to gearing (it is going to be challenging). That is what Thursday was for but….. The weekend is under threat as I have found out that Craig needs to hand in one of his projects on Monday and I haven’t finished it yet It's a complex situation with the school at fault, so no comments thank you!

Preparation planning and practice prevent p1ss poor peformance in so many cases. As ever the education system of the UK is not up to scratch! - no suprises there - you should see who they employ!! Hope to see you at SLCC pete & Craig! SHMCC need as many racers as possible!

Craig's not blameless Matt but unfortunately the instructions on what needed to be done were sparse to say the least. The good thing these days is that there are plenty of places on the Web where you can find this stuff, apart from the sites reserved for teachers, so I have now turned his half a dozen pages into 20 with probably another 20-30 to go. Most of it is just slog but with other revision over Easter he just hasn't had the time.

LOL Les, I'll tell you what, anyone who is prepared to run 27T against 13.5 at Cotswolds, like what we did, has got bottle by the gallons So there you have it, we've got bottle, capability, a dream of a car, sub 15sec pace, we just need to go faster ;D Talking it through this evening we are doing Thu., skipping Sat. and fingers xssed for Sun.

Things are starting to "hot up" be prepared to see some serious speed and performance, theres not many in the 10.5 class, the main interest in where the talent is,13.5!it should be a good meet! the 17.5 class should be very interesting, down to those with the correct profile....Im taking a small bet that Chris Newbury does well along with Ian Newton with speed.
Apart from Adur Aldershots a bit of a power track,to be honest ill be glad to get back to tracks where power is not so influential to performance.but saying that Aldershots hard to be fast on regardless of power, set up being the key to be quick!

I'm just about to pop down to Reality Racing to get some last minute bits - Still waiting on a whole new drivetrain to arrive in the post,
Damaged spool to repair from an out of control XRAY yesterday.
Batteries to charge, Car to pack,
12 sets of warmer cups to repair.. 3 sets of tyres to prep, it's like formula one this is!

Long afternoon at Aldershot yesterday but in the final 3 runs, 6-7pm, we finally found some speed so worth it in the end, having changed the Tekin engine to a Nosram. Some more to come I suspect as the engine temp is so low but we have run out of time (although I am tempted to throw in our new Nosram Pure on the same settings and see what happens). With 9 of the 14 entrants being Aldershot boys we are heading for a relaxed week-end fighting it out for a B final podium ;D

A good day for myself at aldershot - still dont like the track (but thats personal thing).
Found a decent setup on the car - lacked top end speed and was easily outpaced on the straight by some other cars.
Lovely weather - but motors ran hot all day.
Qualified 8th in the A, Finished overall 7th.
Great company from the rest of the south hants crew and the mini bashley village was a nice touch to the atmosphere, much banter and support being given by everyone. I like this!
Roll on Round 2.

A poor day for me, dodgy marshalling in heat one left my car tweaked after a big off with a large kerb.. 17 twisted spinny laps In heat two the wheel fell off.. first time i've ever had a serrated wheel nut come loose. 14 ish laps??? In heat three I hit an out of line Nick Adams in an early lap, causing my body post at the rear to come away from the shock tower, 20/313 - 3 seconds over my track pb This left me First in the B - (seems to happen quite often!) first final the car wouldn't move off the line.. followed by roughly 9 cars hitting me.. finally after one of the cars hit me i managed to pull away... Second final I finished 2nd - in rather uneventful style! crapola!
