Hi all.
I thought Joe would be happy with the Ansmann indoors again, but says he would like to go back to Minis. He built his own Tamiya when he first started, but now as he is improving would like to get him something better with a little less slack in it!! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also are people still interested in running them on the Wednesdays?

I have been doing a lot of mini over the summer and in my opinion the m05 works well out of the box. I would at least add bearings as well though. I also have an m06 now and that is deffinatlly faster but takes more work to get set up correctly. Both good cars but you know an m05 is good from the off. The mo5 pro comes with bearings and oil filled shocks too but Terry will have the bearings in stock I would imagine.
I had never really bothered with these little cars till recently but they are such good close racing and bullet proof.

Hi Ian I agree with Darren to stick with the m05. The m06 is quicker in the right hands but can be difficult to drive! I think I remember you having bearings and shocks already. I would recommend some short Tamiya spring's, decent servo saver and some spuk Tyres. Also I think the 3 racing alloy steering rack can take out a fair bit of slop in the steering if thats what you wanted? Tamiya mini's work well even with a bit of slop. Hth Jamie

That sounds good news to my wallet! We have got Jamie's old shocks and bearings courtesy of Ian L. Will speak to Terry about the other bits. It did prove indestructible last year but was always having to re centre the servo every race after various offs and knocks!

A must for any of these Tamiya mini cars is a decent servo and servo saver. The cheaper servos always have centering problems on the minis.
Don't worry about having a bit of slop, they tend to work better if everything is like that.

Reviving this thread as after the miller mile and trying Jamie's and Darrens Minis I want a M06 along with a Scale looking shell.
So what does one need for this mini lark?
I have a spare low profile servo I assume I can fit, and old ripmax 15t limit esc (will it be any good?).
Tyres? What type of shells are out there? where can I get them? I like the scale type hatch back style cars (fiesta, civics, volvos etc). something that will fit a Vampire lipo would be great too.

Mini net is good for info on some things but they run on Tarmac so set up I have found is different. The kit mo6 is nearly there out of the box in my opinion but just needs the final touches in order to personalise the handling to yourself. Be advised though the turnbuckles are a pain to adjust due to position of them. Sweep 25s front and back are the best in terms of grip and life with full front and back addative for first round then none the rest of the meeting. Springs are harder rear than front on my car so that feels odd at the beginning. Bodyshells that fit the 6 are on the rcmininet website but a lot don't fit due to the rear overhang. Protoform has just released a new surf wagon shell and that looks nice. There are lots of hop ups you can get but most are just bling. I think most use a heat sink and fan and I have the alu steering knuckles. Forgot the servo will be fine and shells HPI do a few that fit and the Volvo comes from muchmore. I am not sure that the civic will fit the mo6 .Also Tamiya do a few mo6 shells.

Also motors wise don't think there is a lot in it really. I have run a Saturn 27(runs nice temps) a clash 21 was hot and a fast Silver can and that gets really hot. Jamie and Ian used some others yeasterday also so maybe worth checking there for more.. This is just what I have found from running through the summer at Bransgore so others may have a different opinion.

Liam I am not sure on the full rules as it was last year they were agreed. Think you can run most sealed can motors down to 20t though. With the AGM looming I am sure they will be agreed fully soon. Most of us run the podium speedos.

I tried 27 Saturn and silver can which we're very similar but also tried the 20t Saturn which I will be sticking with as it was a little more fun to drive but not really that much quicker in terms of race pace! Maybe a lap quicker over 5 mins!?

They have the mx5 miata shell on USA eBay. I don't think it matter's Liam as long as its a similar sort of car! There is no brushless at the moment but it is something I would like to try!

re tyres i use sweep 25's &33's and find these very good body shell i use the volvo also very good have used this both indoors and outdoors at cotswold in the spc have also used the civic hope this helps

So I see the M06 has a rear diff, but this isnt sealed? so does this mean no oils? just anti wear grease?

I am using the 3 racing oil filled gear diff. So far am well impressed. The kit oil is a heavy TC gear diff oil and way to heavy for the mo6 but I used 400wt and now it's good and no maintenance. The heavy oil gave me no rotation and made it understeer big time. There is nothing wrong with the kit diff just needs a bit of maintenance now and again.

Well after one year of trying Adam finally realized that you just had to stay on the track to get more laps, instead of crashing every 5 seconds and braking the car.
Well done on beating 4 PB's - (considering he was in a lot of pain)
Not sure about going the opposite way around the track he's just figure out how to go the right way - tho he has had a lot of practice going the wrong way
He's looking forward to next week already

To be honest I have run anti clockwise on other tracks and it didn't seem any harder to me. I just think it gives us more options in layouts. Also Derek was on about turning the track around by 180degs so there is another dimension to it again.
