I have over the past couple of days spent about 40 hours trying to resuscitate my old Dell laptop; restoring Vista, hundreds of windows updates, Vista SP1 (twice) & SP2, plus of course 100s of gigabytes of my data etc.
This morning it was still too slow; so.....
I normally go for HP or Dell and had a couple of laptops shortlisted from them. But last night I started to have a look at Lenovo and came across their Z570 sold by PC World.
The price and spec is unbelievable and having just gone to look at it (and buy it!) the build just oozes quality which at the price point of £499 is unbelievable. Using it now for the first time the HD screen is awesome as is the keyboard. It is also gobsmackingly fast at the moment, very little software loaded I will admit.
For the £499 you get...
i3 processor clocked at 2.2(spec says 2.1 so a bonus) with a true 2nd generation chip not the ubiquitous old 370m (I was going to go for an i5 but this spec/price was unmissable)
8mb memory
750 gig hard disk at 7200rpm
1 gig ethernet
N standard wireless + bluetooth 2.1
4 USB 2.0 but when I opened the box one of them is 3.0 to that's a bonus!
HDMI out
Dedicated Nvidia GEforce graphics card with additional 1gig dedicated memory
Plus, can you believe it at this price point, a switch to toggle the dedicated graphics card on/off (and save battery)
The only thing I don't like at the moment is the Delete key which has moved a bit inboard, but I will get used to it
The best £500 I ever spent, well there was that woman in Beijing but that is another story.
If you need a laptop, look no further!
