Hi Dave, well I have been rekindling, after a break of some 35 years, my passion for war-gaming. Trying to work out if I want to focus on playing my old Avalon Hill board games by email or go for the modern PC base real time simulations.
Played around with Combat Mission: Shock Force which models the USA invasion of Syria in 2008 which seems a lot of fun but does play out the conflicts in detail and whilst the 3rd person graphics are very good, it does require too much time at the tactical level for my tastes.
Just finished a 24 hour marathon, with 4 hours sleep, playing a demo of Command Ops: Battles of the Bulge. Wonderful, it really is operational and you can let your AI take over all the detail with the occasional interjection - didn't impress Jen though!
Oh I guess you really meant motor racing ;D.
Not much. Although as it happens Craig landed himself an engineering apprenticeship which started a couple of weeks ago So he chucked in the week-end job, which was a pile of pooh anyway, just in time for us to enter the final BRCA Clubmans 13.5 round at Cotswolds.
He chucked it the weekend before the Cotswolds, on the Saturday, so as everyone seems to be running Stock at the moment we went up to Aldershot on the Sunday to run 13.5 and sort the car, the oily rag and the driver.
Considering he has not raced in earnest for some considerable time he did really well, it was very close and on another day we would have made the B final but in the last qualie we slipped to the C final. (field of 48).
So the weekends are now free again and we will be getting back to action, although doing a proper job for 5 days a week is taking its toll and Craig spends most of the weekend sleeping! ;D
