Hi Dave not sure what if any leeway there is on this but… Today showed that with these outdoor summer temperatures Sorex 28 is not the right tyre for 17.5B and that Sorex 32 would be the better choice – or at least let the racer choose. Checking out other series – Southern Racers League, Schumacher BTCC, Demon GPand BRCA Clubmans , all mandate Sorex 32s for their 17.5 blinky classes.
Sorex nominal track temps for are roughly -
24's - 17*C to 22*C 28's - 20*C to 28*C 32's - 27*C to 35*C
Today track temp. hit 49c; yesterday it hit 45c; Thursday it hit 38c. The probability as we approach Summer is that SICC weekend temps will be higher not lower.

Hey Dave, I'm watching....any news? Could do with ordering some more tyres, but if 32s are on the cards I'd want to order them instead and save the 28s for the indoor runs.
Also, Pete, was Craig running 32s in that last final in the end?

And once we get our new motor setup we will need to run 36s to stay on the track we will be going so fast

Ha ha, must have been my tyre prep before the race that changed the game then . I may gear down for the start of the SICC as I was actually quicker on lower gearing (15.55 against 15.7 fastest laps). If I can string that together then I'll be sorted... Tempted to pick up the new orion 17.5 as a "spare" just incase

Lol it's worse than that Mike. Just rebuilding the car I have discovered that one of the two bearings supporting the layshaft has disintegrated.That must have cost us at last half a second a lap ;D

Whoa hold on that Mike, you can cancel the order for a new car .It was the T3 with the busted bearing not the 009. Shame that.

Ok folks,
just received a note from Darryl the SICC organiser regarding tyres for round 3..
I know a lot of SHMCC drivers were requesting the use of Sorex 32's in blinky touring class, however Darryl has advised that at present the current SICC championship rules stand and only Sorex 28's will be allowed this coming Sunday..
In addition, Darryl has let me know that due to surgery this week (good luck mate) he may not be attending next Sunday.. If anyone needs tyres for round 3, you can call Lesro direct and order / pay for them over the phone (make sure you tell them its for SICC) I'll be visiting Lesro Friday afternoon to collect all tyres for the meeting so make sure you order before 12pm Friday!

Not a problem Mike, just looked at the long range forecast and it looks like it will be getting a little cooler next weekend after hitting low 20's mid week .. So fingers crossed track will be cool enough for 28's
