Hi all. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good dc only/AC-DC charger. I need a new one as I have had to stop using my Imax B6 as it was overcharging my batteries and have had to bin 3 of them as they started to swell. It turns out the B6 is a fake and cuts off at too high voltage ie above 8.40V. Can anyone recommend one, maybe one you use yourself. Thanks in advance Geoff

The charge you used the other week that I have is an FUSION ELYSIUM LX60 B PRO. it is ac/dc and so far has seemed to be pretty near spot on. No problems at all and I do use it quite a lot for both drive and transmitter battery packs. Have had it a while so not sure if they are still available. Pretty certain it is BC6 based inside though.
I also have a Pro Peak Sigma charger as a spare that is also ac/dc and also seems to work OK.
All the best ones I have had have been BC6 based to be honest.

Geoff, you might be able to calibrate it which will help. I've got five Turnigy chargers which are identical to the iMax B6. I've got all mine calibrated so they don't quite reach full charge. See komar.bitcheese.net/en/howto-calibrate-imax-b6All you do is power it up while holding two of the buttons down. I'll update tomorrow when I'm in the office as I cannot remember which buttons to hold down at the moment. You get a menu where you can adjust up/down so that the reading on the charger matches what a multimeter gives (but then, you have to trust that the multimeter is showing the correct voltage). If you don't get the calibration menu, don't bin it. I've experimented a little with custom firmware for these chargers (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/cheali-charger), and if you cannot get the calibration menu, the original firmware can be re-flashed so that you can (I can do it). The only reason I've got all these is convenience. I'd prefer to have one really good quality charger. The reality of towing a 12 year old and having to have loads of batteries ready at all times means it's easier to have some permanently ready in the office, and two ready in the "gig case".

Thanks for the info guys. I tried the link tony posted and managed to change the settings on my B6 so it doesn`t read over 8.4v at the battery terminals. Thanks again Geoff

I did think of one of those Dave, but I already had two chargers. And then got another two chargers for £17 posted (via Oople, Nick Snelgrove). Job done.
