Thank you to the Woolridge clan as they managed to finish cutting the grass at the track today. Looks so much better but would have been easier if there were two lawn mowers capable of working. Is it possible to get one of the four lawnmowers in the container serviced properly so it is a reliable working mower again? Maybe someone in the club can do it? Would make things much easier if two of them were good.

Thanks Ian and team Woolridge!
I'm sure there are at least two of the three "dead" mowers that can be brought back to life.. If anyone fancies have a go at getting them running?? The club will pay for parts etc..

That's pretty much it Andrew.. I suspect a new spark plug and new fuel would get at least another two up and running as long as they've got oil in them still.. Don't recall any of them actually dropping dead on duty!

Well we did manage to get one other mower going but in the loosest possible sense of the word. While the engine ran it was not peaking out and hacked at the grass rather than cut it. Might need a tune up and a sharpen I reckon. Did not seem to want to pick up the grass it did hack off either but that might just be we tried the wrong box or lack of RPM. One other mower is in bits by the look of it and another seems to be complete but will not run. In fact almost impossible to pull the starter so might be seized up. I would think lack of use rather than a proper seized engine though. Could also do with a service on the strimmer as that would be useful if it actually worked.
Alan and I both said at the time that if the equipment was working properly we would not mind coming down occasionally and keeping the place tidy. It does need a bit of work now though as the grass is spreading over the track so really needs the edges digging back. A few more volunteers to have a go would be good and would soon get it looking fine again.

Would any of them fold up enough to get in the back of my car or is it worth bringing the van and taking them all away to have a tinker with?
Im assuming they will all be 4 strokes? If they have not been run in a while the carbs could be all varnished and would more than likely benefit from a new plug, oil and and fuel.

Yes they fold up but whether you will get them in the car is a different matter. You would certainly get one in there.

Hi Andrew,
Yep they are all 4 strokes
The mower that won't turn over defo has something wrong with it, if you take the plug out it does turn over (or did when I looked at it) Not sure why one is in bits? was it just the handle assembly Ian?? The yellow mower we bought new a few years ago so that shouldn't take much to get going.. Like wise the strimmer which was working last year, the main issue with the strimmer is the actual strimming cord runs out or jams frequently. The motor did run OK.
Time for a work party onch we've got another mower and the strimmer working :-)

The yellow one is the one we managed to get going but it does not cut very well. As I said might just need a service and a sharpen. The seized one needs some serious looking at as will not turn over and trying to turn it over by actually moving the cutting blade is really hard. Maybe a rusted up bearing? anyway needs looking at. The one in bits may well be just the handle as was impossible to get in to it with so much in the unit especially the benches. I could not get the strimmer working but again it has been left for a year with fuel in it and being 2 stroke may well have clogged up jets etc.
If the strimmer can be got working properly and another mower working effectively it will be much easier for anyone to keep the grass down and the track tidy. When there is only one working mower it takes a fair amount of time and effort especially the first cut last weekend as the grass was VERY long and needed cutting several times.

Great work Andrew, love the video clip! I suspect the mower has been upside down at some point!
