I'm sure we can sort you out Martin, however please check the receiver in the car is DSMR compliant as the latest series of DX4 transmitters only talk to DSMR receivers.. Apparently Spektrum changed the firmware to remove the DSM2 compatibility!!
See you tomorrow :-)

I think DSM2 is still fine Dave, it's just the Orange receivers it will not bind to. Any Spektrum ones should bind fine.
What receiver are you using Martin?

Not according to several forums and the findings of very own Mr Benn at the club Tony.. The Original DX4's were both DSM2 and DSMR compatible but it looks like spekturm changed their minds at some point and newer handsets don't bind with Spektrum DSM2 receivers

Strange. Our handsets run firmware 1.2 which seems to be the latest on the website. And most of our receivers are SR3100 (DSM2). I think I'll leave the firmware alone on it while everything still works.

According to spektrum the dx4s is backward compatible with dsm and dsm2.What John was trying to do was run a dsmr rx with an older transmitter which will not work.

Having had another read on RCTech etc.. It looks like Spektrum dropped DSM compatibility on the DX4 range of controllers after firmware ver 1.0 but newer firmware versions should still be DSM2 backward compatible.. Last conversation I had with John he had bought a new DX4 handset to use while his original DX4 was being repaired and he couldn't get that to bind with some of his older spektrum rx's.. I know when his original handset failed at the track he did try to bind his spare DX3 to a DSMR rx without success :-)
