Go for it mate! Assume you go to the club at Christchurch? Took my old RAE back in 1989! Spent a few years on 2m FM and SSB, then the family came along so just kept the odd 2m hand held around or a scanner or two.. Got back into it about 4 years ago, got a couple of HF radios at home and an HF for the car as well as a 2m/70cms mobile.. Like to earwig on 40m in the mornings on the way into work but happy to work any HF band from 40m through to 10m at home.. Still get a kick out of listening to the states on 11m where I cut my radio teeth back in the late 70's..
Will have to arrange a sked mate when you get time.. What is your band of choice?

Nice radios mate, got an Alinco DX-SR8 and FT-450D at home, FT-857D and cheapo Chinese dualband mobile rig for the car although thats just changed so I need to reinstall it all when then weather improves! Antennas at home are 1/2 size G5RV for 40 & 20m and a CB vertical that covers 10 down to 15m or 17m with a tunner..
