Fit the 009 Lipo top deck spacers to your 008. A proper extended back to back test on Saturday saw Craig immediately gain an advantage, between .3 and .4 second a lap. We had though previously shimmed the 008 top deck. If you haven’t then I guess you might not see this.

Pete does using the new top deck spacers do anything to the internal roll centres of the car?? or any other immediately obvious settings??
Do you think shimming the top deck to allow your LiPo to fit in last year lost you the .3 - .4 and you've just gained it back??

That is what I am not sure about, but I expect that might be the case, hence my caveat. Shimming the top deck partially disengages the deck bearing from the quicksaver post. When we fitted the spacers on Saturday Craig immediately felt the difference, ie the steering felt more direct/tighter - logical conclusion is there was some slack in the geometry following the shimming. Mind you he didn't complain when I shimmed it!!!! The 1st question. Well I assume that given the light weight of a thin graphite deck the COG would not noticeably be affected but I will bow to our experts on that one. The RC is a function of the design and configuration of the suspension and I don’t see how the top deck would affect that. So I don't think any improvement would have been as a result of an unwitting change in that area.

wow! interesting how a small amount of play can make a huge difference! I'll have to have a play with that on my 008 See you sunday!
