hello all... after a long break i am getting myself back on the RC horse - i am constantly looking on the internet pining over the latest and greatest chassis’ looking at the entrants of the slcc I have noticed there are no TC5’s running. Also on Sundays I have not seen one in the flesh! I currently am the owner of a vintage tc3 – and am feeling compelled to get another associated! (I might as well get some use out of the tools I bought for it!) this leads me to ask what is so good about the hb cyclone!? And whats wrong with the tc5! Any advice over what chassis is best for outdoor use would be great, and also which model will have the longest life span…. Nice one guys!

don't know if theres anything wrong with the TC5? I have a cyclone because the price was attractive and cheap. Plus it just works!

it all comes down to your choice
also spares availability and setup help is also a factor. At our club a lot of people run the cyclone as its easy to setup, strong, easy to drive and spares are easy to get hold of.
i know of a couple of people who have tried the tc5 but have now switched to other makes but dont know the reasons.
there was also a new chassis plate and upgrades for the tc5 as it was not quite right first off

TC5 ,Jamie Traylor used to run one and was very quick with it. The cyclone seems to have taken off in our club due to it been very tough, compedative out of the box without spending a fortune on hop ups, easy to set up and drive, easily available shop parts plus there is always set up help, advise and spares "on the day" between us should you need them.all in all a good "clubmans" car still with very excellent "worlds" credentials At Aldershot the Schumacher is the flavor of the year, probably due to one or two top drivers running them Yeovil lads seem to like the Xray?? Sorry Ian I have just repeated your post "2 mins later" ;D

Hi Martin,
I can't tell you what's wrong with a TC-5 because I have never run one, I'm sure it's a competitive car in the right hands, but that said I can tell you why I run a cyclone.
I started at the club with a Yokomo BD and struggled to get a half decent set up, then i bought a second hand Cyclone, the first time I used it I was quicker than the BD.
The cyclone out of the box even goes well it's quick and easy to drive and as Les has said plenty of help in setting it up.
I'm sure if you could get a good set up on the TC-5 it would be just as quick but at the club very few are used so you wont have the same level of knowledge.

Hi i had a Tc5 for about a year. It was a good strong car and handled well but the xray 008/009 which i have now handles better and is quicker! The xray, cyclone and tamiya seem to be the cars of choice for our club!

The TC5 was my first proper touring car. I bought one when they first came out. I had three issues and one big surprise.
1) Tweak, to begin with as a "nube" I did not know what this was but in the end I sold the car for it. Mine tweaked very easily and at that point would be very hard to drive. I should add up to that point it was railed!
2) Front spool, I have never broken so many of those little clips that go on the dogbone into the spool outdrives.
3) Parts, there where none in the UK, I used to buy from LosiParts house in the US, but this was when the £ bought 2$.
The surprise however came when I sold it, along with Jamie T and Smiffy at DMCRC all three of us sold the rolling chassis' on ebay for over £200 mine was 14 months old!!
Buy a Cyclone, great simple strong car.
