I serched high and low to find a box to fit the car and take RX and speedo for the Cotswolds ..No luck ...ended up with wraping the gear in stretched Blu tac and gaffa tape...not looking forward to digging the gear out though ...mind you it 's still all working even after running in deep standing water for 5mins....I realy hope we dont go "wet" this week end

These look superb..
I need to sort myself out a wetbox for my car then. Otherwise I get scared when the rain comes of popping a motor or esc...
If I had one of these then I wouldn't mind at all racing in a bit of rain... May even get myself a new chassis and set the old one up as an rtr wet car...

I'm just too lazy to let my TCs near water... It's too much faff and maintenance for me!
It'll be okay for Yateley tho, it's gonna be dry! I've been doing my dry dance.

Racing in standing water is fun "huge rooster tails out the back"..Its amazing how much grip you have..but it is a pain having to compleetly strip the car back to kit the next day befor rust sets in.... Rain dance Simon...send us a clip,we'ed all like to see that!!! ;D I used to use some self almalgamating tape to water proof years ago,Im not sure if its still available... its clever stuff!

Ok gents, here we go....couple of options I used an Maplin MB1, which is deep enough to take a Sphere with fan still attached, and also fit in the reciever too. It fits nicely in the 416, but for something like a cyclone with the servo 90° different, it won't fit without hanging out over the edge. For those with lower profile speedos, or no fan, you can try the Maplin T2 or T3. Enough room in them to fit a micro reciever and speedo, but not tall enough for most speedo's even with the fan removed. All I did was drill the hole in the top for the power wires, and in the side for the servo/pt plugs, and the sensor cable hole. Beware, the sensor cable will need taking apart... and when reassembling, it's not a straight through, but a crossover cable (left hand wires on one end will be the right hand on the other). Also added a snorkel to let the box breathe... condensation can be a show stopper too! The two plugs on the side are just servo extenders, pre-plugged into the receiver, top is for the PT, and bottom for the servo. I just used silicone around the exits, and the lid. I also stripped the motor down, and silconed around the end plates, and also filled in any holes by the PCB (at the top), and siliconed the sensor plug in. The biggest thing is to keep the sensors dry! All I can say is this, I was happily using the deep puddles at WL to slow down, car was rocking in the wet, lots of fun If it does rain this weekend, it'll be in use again.. possibly.

I'm sure you can still get self amalgamating tape... I have some in pit box anyway. When I used to run the MRT in brushed, it was quite amusing just how little water proofing was needed... wrap the reciever up, and add a pot over the end bell (to stop the brushes wearing out in one run!) and it was done... hardly added any weight

No worries Les. One thing I foget to mention... make sure you switch your speedo ON before sealing up the box Something similar...been there done that. This was done in a panic on the wed night prior to the Cotswold meet due to the forecast...I checked an old speedo befor I wrapped it,all ok, I spent the next hour making the wiring neat and tidy, water proofed it and stuck it in the car and it wouldn't work ,I spent the next 15 mins digging it out to check connections only to find the speedo had decided to "give up"....my toys came out of the pram!!!..the speedo was placed on the vice where I modified it with a hammer"very satisfying at the time"....Ask Matt S ;D

Right well im going to get one of those wet boxes made up and turn my sphere/speed passion 17.5 into a wet gear car!
Will blue-tack work as well as Silicone?

I bought self-amalgamating tape the other week, I always seem to have a roll kicking around.
Good for sealing electrics on vehicles, and also it seems for sealing poorly fitting air-intakes on Peugeots! Saved myself a garage bill there!
Silicone will work better than blue-tac, but silicone does have a habit of coming un-stuck from some plastics. I squirted it in the speedo holes on the e-Savage and it worked a treat, that thing has literally been under water...
