Yesterday I ran my trusty old Cyclone at 1350 with a set up that was known to work quite well at 1500 gr.
Initially on our bumps the car was bouncy and slightly unstable on the 1500gr springs.A drop in spring weight all round (about 1lb) immediately improved the handling. as for damping I tend to run quite light in stock(17.5) for our track (35/30wt)so I would imagine the oil/spring match was pretty good??
Ian Lloyde's Cyclone was also running at 1350ish with a lower spring weight but with his normal shock oil choice..45/40 I think??,he too found the car a bit unstable and bouncy .A handling improvement after a shock position alteration to his car seemed to reinforce our thoughts on lighter damping with the lower chassi weight/springs
Nothing else was changed on our cars but roll bars may be worth a look at,perhaps drop 0.1mm dia all round???..
The above changes may well not be too affective on other tracks?? but It certainly worked on our bumpy twisty track
I hope this info may give some of our new drivers a head start with set up alterations should we go 1350 very soon.

Out of interest I could only get my Cyclone to 1380gms and achieve good balance. Had to be fairly inventive to get to that I have to say. Obviously need more work!
The car is much more lively though at that weight and as Les said, a drop in springs all round was needed. Regarding oil I was running 350 rear and 400 front. Car was very twitchy to start with but eventually settled on changing the shock positions front and rear by two holes inward on the shock towers and the car was easily a lot better.
Also removed rear anti roll bar and reduced front to the thinnest HPI one (1.2 I think)
Strangely I could gear up quite a bit without the motor over heating....
Will be interesting to spend a bit more time with set ups as I think the 17.5 class could be really good with lighter weight cars.
