For those concerned about putting their Mi4's on a diet. Matt rang me for weight info regarding the Std spool versus the TR version....its only 2grams lighter!Yep that gob smacked me too!Ive yet to weigh the std kit v TR drive shafts but I cant see that much weight saving here either, both the kit and TR shafts use an alloy for the dog bones its just the stub axel on the kit ones that is steel...a 10 gram saving at the very most?

thought as much... the Mi4 spool is made of almost nothing anyway. I guess the only advantage it gives is not using blades (but having to replace the outdrives instead). Good info Matt/Les Thanks

Off subject slightly here but it is to do with balance/weight For those who may be thinking of replacing their Lipos in the near future it will pay to buy the lightest available (with out sacrificing C rating)...You may have to add more ballast to the pack but at least the weight mass will be further outboard helping lateral balance. ...this may well be the reason why some are finding it easier to balance make for make...their pack weights differ???

mayb Les. My Ip 5000 packs weight 266 each, my older demon pack (the blue ones) weight 290+
I even got an interesting response on the schuey forum with someone stating:
"how do you get the Mi4 down to 1350g with a 5000mah lipo, mine weighs 1505g with no weights, the best option for me is to use a 3200mah lipo and will lose 90g but don't know where to lose the rest."
so are we gona start seeing smaller packs becoming more suitable? what about some stupidly light Orion 2400's again??

If it's any help my Mi4 is 1322g balanced side to side and the extra 28g on the bumper mount has brought the front to rear balance up, in the following format
Mi4 Lipo tray & strap Trakpower 3200 lipo Lightweight LTCR shell Titanium Racing Screw Set & CVD's SP GT2 esc LRP 17.5 Motor RP30

Kit shafts are 8g, TIR are 4g each.
so you shave half the weight (or 16g in total)
