Was just wondering howany people using broadband Internet can not get the forums to load. The only way I can get the forums to load is via 3g on my iPhone there is one other who I know of who is having problems the same as me. Just thinking there could be a problem with the server blocking ip addresses

how many times a day do you try and visit? and how long do you stay? if your visiting shortly and quite frequently, theres a chance the pro-boards servers may think your a spam robot and dissallow your connection for a number of hours or days?

The server isn't banning IPs as far as i'm aware and your not on my banned list so technically you should be able to reach us, however there has been a recent fault logged between the proboards server and Sky broadband - locally a few people had issues adding the /index.cgi at the end of the address was working for some... bashley.proboards.com/:8080 is also another work around... I've just done a quick trawl of the net and it'd seem a few ISP's are blocking access to certain ip addresses file sharing sites and proboards etc...

it would be nice to move to something more manageable. however the wealth of information here, makes the move very tricky, especially if we want ot keep the info.

bashley.proboards85.com:8080/index.cgiWorks for me I'm on Sky max... Reading proboard & sky forums, nobody is sure if its Sky blocking or just a technical issue... Sky have replied to several complaints by saying there is a technical issue and they are working on it... I've been really happy with Sky's connection & speed up to now, but if they are going to block P2P, torrents & other share sites I'm off to ISP's new... I had a really bad experience with Tiscali a few years back, you couldn't even browse some sites in the evening cos they would block from 5pm to 11pm every night to save bandwidth!! Took me three months of constant complaining to get out of the contract early..

Moving to a new forum would mean loosing all the data we currently have stored, as there's no facility for us to save or export the forum etc etc.. part of the deal with us having the forum for free
I'm on tiscali or whatever they're called now.. and it's good most of the time, never have forum issues..

Looks like it's all back to normal now.. no need for :8080 etc. work arounds.. My issues with Tiscali (talk talk) were a few years back now Matt, it was just after they started their £17.99 unlimited package (one of the first "unlimited" deals) I guess it proved toooo popular as they ran out of available bandwidth and struggled to upgrade their servers etc.. I remember all of the Tiscali forums being full of moaning customers!! At times I was getting little better than dial up connection speeds in the evening and all P2P, torrent & online gaming sites were a no go.. I'm sure they have sorted it all out now, but it was bad enough to make me go to ADSL24 and pay £29 a month for a truly "unlimited" quality connection until I jumped to Sky just over a year ago.. Lets hope this proboard issue was just a technical glitch

It's interesting how many different people have different experiences with different service providers!
certainly the mid afternoon/early evening lag is quite bad on Tiscali..
