Just wondering what peoples opinions were on tyre performance changed when they near the end of there life. How does it effect handling of the car ?

Reduced grip on front or rear or both. If you have your front camber set right, ie front tyres wear flat, swapping the fronts every race will help to extend their useful life

nothing can describe how good new tyres are. with new tyres the car just goes where you want it to, and turns as fast as you want it to - at any speed.
so older ones as Pete suggests, become understeery or oversteery depending what end is worse. Driving a car with rear tyres worse than the front is very hard and the back end will break away all the time. The car also starts to slide sideways a bit in the corners, rather than sticking to the tarmac.
My tyres dont were evenly, the front left always dies way before the other ones, starts to get a ridge as well.
