Hi again all sorry to bother! I bet these threads do your nut in. As my previous thread stated I intended to take up IC powered cars instead of electric..however there are no asphalt tracks near the area that race nitro! So convince me, why should I come back to the realm of electric and stand attending the SHCC outdoor track. Cheers guys. I would ask it but Im guessing you wouldnt be too happy if i turned up one day and my car started drifting round every corner so i wont ask

As Pete says above, Come along to a meeting and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. The club is very friendly to old and newcomer alike. We have a great bunch of guys and some racers that have decades of experience under there belts that are more than happy to help you out any time. We also run on Wednesday evenings at the memorial hall (winter, outdoor summer) so pop down and meet everyone. Also we are the only onroad outdoor track for miles lol

I would write out a massive speech about how good electric rc is. But nothing will pursade you like coming down the track, having a chat and even giving it a go. Do I dare suggest that electric is also faster than ic on most tracks. People love speed.

1+ on our track I think electric would be faster. Gen 3 speedos and 13.5 motors are silly fast at Bashley as I found out recently.

I think the only thing that puts me off is the batteries and charging, and the possible inability of upgrading parts? or can you tune these machines similar to tuning a IC or even a real car in some respects?
Im probably sounding like a right idiot at the moment. But yes Ill have to pop down next week if you guys are at the outdoor track!

You can tune all sorts on the software on the new generation speed controllers it's kinda like having a 2 speed box on an ic The cars themselves are set up in a very similar way to ic - camber, toe-in, ride height etc.... They are starting to get very fast, and charging takes around 20mins per battery, depending on the charge rate and class you run. Most people get away with 2 batteries, a charger and a leisure battery. As the guys have said, it's much better coming down to be convinced - I think you'll find it hard not to be!

Ive still got my Ripmax delta peak charger..one with the great big turbo button on it but not adjustable settings.
Ill pop down next week thats a promise, ill be easily spotted..some small ish 18 year old looking like an idiot.
But looking at electric cars the prices have gone down massively in some respects from when I used to do it very briefly at homefield

Cool, see you there! Btw your ripmax charger won't work with the latest lipo batteries, all can be explained trackside

i dont know if you still need convincing , but i ran nitro a long while back and tbh the tunablility of electric is far better these days , yes originally elecy couldnt match nitro but its the reverse now , i know alot of clubs even offroad ones are switching to electric due to new tech , lipo batterys , brushless motors , insane speed controllers all add up to nitro crushing speed and acceleration imo. i found with nitro relabilty was an issue and fuel was messy , the only fiddly bit with electric is gearing and car set up and thats the same as nitro anyhow. and with a big amp battery u can run for longer than a nitro too , lithium polymer is pretty awesome tbh.
