HI there I am new to this site and also to RC electric controlled cars; I think I will buy my first car on Saturday the 24th of April down the shop in new Milton. I was wondering what I should get. I wish to have a sort of package deal which consists of things like a controller, decent 'ish' car and a battery and battery charger etc. I think I will go Sunday to the meeting and I'm tempted to go to the Wednesday meeting so I can see what to get for Saturday (when I get paid) Thanks for reading Trevor Boultwood

Hi Trevor and welcome to the forum mate. The best thing you can do is as you say, go speak to Terry at Reality Racing and tell him what sort of chassis/class you are interested in starting. He will also let you know what classes we regularly run at the club and local clubs close to us. From there it's really down to how much you want to spend.
For a complete novice I would start out going for an Eco chassis or mini if indoors is your thing. Terry will show you the popular kits in these classes and they also come all inclusive with everything you need to get started.
If you wanted to get an idea it would be worth checking out the Reality Racing website and also our club site that now has loads of info to help.
Look forward to seeing you trackside

The best advice I can give is not to rush in and buy the first thing you see.... more likely than not it will be wrong , we have all done it, myself included. it also really depends on how much experience you have in anything RC. if your completely new, I would recommend running in our Eco/Pro-eco class. which is a 21t sealed can motor and brushed speed control (can be had for around £40-£50 i think - dont quote me on that). Get yourself a Lipo battery and a Lipo charger. if you get a decent charger that can charge at 5A and a battery greater than 4000Mah capacity, you should be able to get away with running just 1 battery and charging between runs (to save having to purchase a 2nd Lipo straight away). regarding cars, you can either buy a RTR (Ready to Run) style car like Ansmann or Maverick. But if your thinking you would like to take this up for a longer period and have some disposable income a second hand pro-chassis can be brought for arround £150. its a little more to pay upfront to get it running, but it will last you a lot longer . also if you need a hand with ANYTHING car related, come speak to us trackside, we do this as a hobby and try to help each other out as much as possible. we look like we take it seriously, but we are big kids really - tantrums included

btw that 12th in the forsale section is no good for outdoors, you need a 1/10th 4wd Touring car.
examples: Xray T2 009, T3, T3 011 Schumacher Mi4lp, Mi4cx Hot Bodies: Cyclone, Cyclone TCX Associated: TC5, TC6 Top: Photon Yokomo: BD Corrally: RDX Tamiya: 416 (to many variants to mention) Ansmann ARE (eco chassis) Maverick (eco chassis)
theres a few to name a few. The most common ones you will see at the club are:
Schumacher mi4 (purple/grey/black) Xray T3 (orange) Associated TC6 (dark blue) Top Photon (red)

WOW! Thanks to everyone who replied! that is some great help from all of you! i think like you all said to come track side and speak to some people before i buy anythink. i will have a look on ebay and the website to see what i can find and i will post back my success. If i get really in to it i may just custom build mine because i like the idea of customizing your parts etc. but i think i will start low then and see how i do. Thanks again to everyone and i will hopefully see you sunday!

Also there is chassis's like the shumacher mi1 and xray t3r that are kind of a midway between top touring cars and Eco car's which would be a good starting point!

Just be aware when buying cheap lipos that some of them maybe soft packs and I think they need to be hard packed for racing at Bashley. Not 100% ???but sure someone can confirm.
