I can't fit the battery's in my car anymore. They must have gotten bigger over the years that I haven't been in the sport. I need some sort of strap system to hold them in, what are my options?

How were they secured before Chris? Looking at your photograph I do not see any posts or any holes in the chassis for securing a post. Not an answer but may help in formulating one.

Most people use fabric weave tape, threaded through the chassis holes and around the battery, it's not expensive and it lasts a while, you can get it in Reality, Lesro or online. Ask or search for battery strapping tape

I see what you're saying Pete. Chris, you could still use battery tape but you would need to cut 2 slots on each side of the chassis to feed the tape through, a dremmel with a diamond disk should do it, cut them about 3-4mm from the battery slots running the same way.

The issue is going to be Keith (I think) that if the batteries will not sit in the slots (sufficiently) then I suspect just a tape inline with the centre line will not hold them. I am not sure if a secondary tape at right angles fitted around the top deck would work without fouling the belt – difficult to tell from the photo.
I know some chassis have (or people have filed) indentations in the bottom of the chassis for a strap at 90 degrees to the centre line.

if you are still using saddle packs i dont know if there is a way of soldering a brace across the batteries without creating a short circuit and then use the tape across the width of the car in two positions. assuming it wouldnt interfere with the drive train belts.

The battery's do fit in the slots, sort of, (its close enough) they do not fit between the battery posts. this tape stuff sounds good, but i am a bit worried about cutting extra holes. Is there some kind of attachment that uses one hole to secure the battery's with this tape stuff?

if your car is a few years old the its probably been designed for the batterys at the time ( prob 3300's) and these are thinner than the latest 4200's a case in point is a schumacher mi2 needs a ladder adapter to fit 4200's but the newer mi2ec doesn't.

Chris, I just have engaged my brain. I have 3 sets of 3200 saddlepacks. They have not been used or had any TLC for 4-5 months. If I can resurrect them you are welcome to them for zilch (saves me the money of driving them to the municapal dump ;D).
I am at Yeovil this weekend but will be at the track the following weekend. I probably will not get a chance to work on them until next week (I will have to babysit them through the first charge); I will let you know how it goes as early next week as possible

Oh I will pm you their length so you can check if they will fit between the posts - no point in me doing it if they don't, but I suspect they will
