No ratio changes both motors were back to backed and temp checked for a safe FDR, both ended up the same....3.55 to be exact but thats for my driving style ....3.7/3.8 I feel is a safe starting point Les does one gear 17.5s differently to 13.5/10.5s I have heard figures of 5.0 being mooted around in the pits It seems so Pete,10.5 :around 5.0 is a good starting point for our track as for the 13.5 Ive never ran one , the Staples should be the chaps to ask! but I understand they are close?? Now we've found a working FDR for the 17.5 the only problem is the spur/pinion meshing sizes,it could mean for some to find more large pinions and smaller spurs "prehaps only 2 or three " to make the FDR, or find a pully set to lower the FDR??...some later chassis have gone this way due to brushless others give a kit opption Silly thought..17.5 class for Calshot....Pinion bigger than your spur...no,no,no,no a nightmare ;D ;D ;D

Good man you will enjoy it....what 13.5 have you ordered?? ..the Novac seems to be the dog's dangely bits at the moment..the 13.5 speed passion im told is not so good?? Terry nomaly has good contact with HPI and should find part quite quick for you? Ah Pete.. the force is not too strong with the dark one at the moment "might well be me?? ".I have some issues with Darth Vader!!..could easily be drawn to the Purple side ...Hmmmm second thoughts?...purple is close to red "my Scythe" good!..but its also close to pink!..a bit fem?...no ofence Col ...as for blue, cant stand sushi

brushless is HERE! so ive been soldering and connecting and reading whilst i have my day off, getting down to track tomorrow dunno which one to try first.... oh and les, with you wondering where Ian got 4.6 fdr for the 17.5 from, its written on the box and manual for the speed passion.... 17.5 = 4.6- 6.0 13.5 = 4.8 - 6.0 regardless of that, ill be using the 3.7/8 you suggested and temping it

I got bored so iI had a root round some national and international forums about the 17.5. Interesting stuff! It seems to be used in 12th to trucks,no firm favorite makes seem to dominate, more importantly the comparison of power and simplisity of use,not one forum/club has knocked the 17.5! quite the opposite...many racers dumping brushed for good!....Lets hope the BRCA adopt this motor for the stock/entry class...for sure the 13.5 IS not entry level

interesting stuff Les - I wonder what they'll be like when run inside! strangly enough the most interesting forum was a 12th indoor U.S site, these guys are very technical, chating about "roll out" figures and other stuff Ive never heard of and would'nt apply to 10th carpet racing. They were comparing perfomance of the 17.5 to 27t brushed, only a CO27 and one other make I have never heard of had a perfomace "slight edge" over the 17.5...most of these chaps were changing to BL regardless of the brushed speed advantage, due to the maintainance free advantage and reliability Another Truck oval club "odd class..thats the yanks for you " prefered brushed due to it been able to reach 25 mph...Hmmmmm prehaps we should invite them over to run at Calshot 19/10.5 is alittle fast for me indoors on our small track after a days work "brain fade after 2 mins ;D"..the 17.5 is worth a try and I think will work well due to its torque? The U.S has it sussed though 17.5 stock,13.5 super stock and 10.5 in with the mods..Ive always felt a 10.5 drove lcloser to a 12x1 than a 19 ...prehaps if we use reverse psycology and hint to the BRCA that the 17.5 is pants they might adopt it

I finaly got a chance to run a 17.5 Novak in anger...I can honestly say out of the three motors I have tessted there is not one that seems to have any advantage on our track.
