I believe the popular CS22 is now only available in tyre only form? Any one have any ideas or tried other makes that may work on those cold winter days? Keith had success with Sorex 20R's yesterday in the 17.5 class in the cold and slightly damp conditions, they seemed unmarked after a run in the driest final but may be a little soft for pro stock?

I used very (very) old cs22's yesterday, no additive, no cleaning, just heat. They seemed okay, but clearly not as good as Keith's Sorex 20Rs.
I've had a look around and Take Off CS22s seem available as pre mounts and as tyres, Sorex 20Rs as tyres, and Pit Shimizu D20s as tyres too.
Plenty of choice for winter I think then, and they should last ages in the cold!

Have just bought a copule of sets of RP24's. I am hoping they will be OK for the winter. Failing that have a few sets of CS22 pre mounts that have not had much use and always seem to work reasonably well.

Ian,the 24's seem good and work quite well for me but I heard that the RP range may have a supply prob in the future much like the CS range or is this just a rumor?..I understand Its a problem with the supply of the chemical Sorexene "so I'm told" that makes our tyres sticky/work???

Nice research Simon..that may put one or two minds at rest.,but I'm not holding my breath...I had fears of us running on re-cycled plastic bags in the future..or swaping our pide and joy for a drift car ...do they do drift cars in blue ;D

My RP24's came from Nick at Demon. He always seems to have them in stock as pre-mounts. Quite like them myself seem to be a good allround tyre. Except of course if used in warmer conditions and then they can wear out really fast.

It's amazing that Simon accumulates all this great information on tyres and yet only ever buys old ones? Tight?...

yes indeed! I did have suprising amounts of grip on the sorex 20's. Highly recommended i say. They're not preglued so they're a little more effort and a tad more expensive but providing they last ok, well worth it. Terry should have some in stock very soon (bit more discount required for that plug ;D)

Sorex 20's sound good but not sure I can cope with gluing up my own tyres again. Seem to have got used to pre-mounts now.

Yes, I am officially tight with tyres. I have bought 2 new sets since starting back in TC. One set of 32s and one set of 28s. The rest are other peoples cast offs ;D
If we had an 'old tyre bucket' like they do at west london I'd be the first one in there fishing them out again! Oh, can we have a bucket too please? I'll buy the bucket and label it and everything!

Have tried Sorex 24Rs several times and they have good grip. Once when we backed to backed them with CS22s they were noticeably better but that was Aprilish so may not be the right conditions for a comparison. My main concern was longevity.
Had no problems getting preglued CS22s of late though
