well Im looking to get a nice new servo and have narrowed it down to those two, everyone that uses the Futuba say that its a great servo and I hear a lot about how KO servos are brilliant.
So if it were you - which would you choose and why...
or if you have any alternatives...

Non decison; KO everytime. Is the 2413 the low profile one? We use the 2363/4/5/6 servos but will probably move to the low profile one this year

I would say that there's not much between them, i run a KO (2343) in both TC's and there brilliant, and run Futaba in the Mini (S9551) and 12th scale (S9560)and there also very good.
Either way you wont be disapointed,
Liam

Yep, both are great quality servos, go with what you fancy, there's not much in it. I'm loving Futaba lately, but I'm not particularly loyal to either.

I use KO 2343 in the Pro4; it's great, The Scythe has a Hitec 645MG - which has oooooodles of power.. it's not the fastest swervo in the world but for 30quid or so.. it's a bargain! Matt

ready for the bomb shell? The 2413 is an OEM version of the 9550... the previous version of the 9551. Still either way you won't be disapointed, just remember to reset your steering links if you switch, as the spline on the low profiles is slightly offset compared to the normal sized. That's something that caught me out in the mini... HiH Ed

Great bombshell info Ed. Only you would know that sort of stuff!
Futaba must be the best then, if KO rebadge them ;-)

Matt... no idea I'm afraid... I only know that one because of doing some digging around before Either way, you can't go wrong with either a KO or Futaba servo, IMO.

So Servo's then! What's the difference between a "servo" and a "FET servo" Also the KO 2343 - anyone know if they do a low profile one? I'm finding it hard researching on the net! Matt

A servo has an amplifier in it to control the motor, like a mini speed controller.
A normal servo might use a transistor based amp, a FET servo uses FETs instead, which run cooler, so FET servos tend to be faster and more powerful as a result.
