Due to the weather forecast and the fact the car park is extremely damp and boggy, the meeting on Sunday has been cancelled.

You can always come to Yeovil Club tomorrow. Our car park never gets boggy, just damp. See our website for details. Probably be wet cars tomorrow but hey, it was pouring down last Thursday, rooster tails and all, great fun and an even great leveler. ;D ;D ;D ;D.

Hi Colin, unfortunately we have only one way of informing people about race meetings and that is this forum, it's always a good idea to logon and check before you leave. Putting up a sign on the gate wouldn't be practical as somebody would need to be responsible for putting it up, for me to do it would mean a round trip of about 70 miles

If you get to the track and no one is there, would you need a sign to say that or does the lack of people kinda suggest it? therefore a sign may only be useful for the day before race day? But as always with British weather, calling the meeting off on a Saturday can be to soon... eg look at last Sunday - forecast rain, ended up being REALLY nice day (shame I was busy that day)
Just my thoughts.....

I was going to suggest the very same Col, SMS broadcast would be a great idea, everyone has mobiles.
5p per message, say 40 messages per broadcast, that's only a couple of quid a week.

Nice idea, I'm not sure how practical it would be with race directors changing weekly though.

Colin, Happy New Year! I hope you and your family are all well! Many thanks for your support of the club; turning out after such a rough night! Also thank you for your suggestion about a sign on the gate. I agree with Keith, it's a nice idea, however practicality it may not be an option. For example we have 300+ drivers in our database, perhaps a core of 15 - 20 who come regularly. From the top of my head I wouldn't have put Colin in the regulars group, purely because he only races once every 4 - 5 weeks. The expense of text messaging all members would be prohibitive. Texting only the core makes it no better than our current system. That combined with rent for the circuit would soon add up to a large total, which all needs to be covered by our week to week income, which can obviously vary greatly depending on many factors. Matt

Matt But we wouldnt text every week - only when meetings are cancelled........and surely we'd only text club members who'd opt'd into the scheme for either Weds/Sundays or both......I'd be surprised if we had 300+ current paid up club members...but then I've not been to the track for a while. Must be worth a bit of research by the committee....you might even be able to find a cheap/freebie package somewhere? This did use to happen a couple of years back, Phil who owned Reality Racing used to do a blanket text from his mobile....not that Im suggesting any of the commitee do that. Col

It's worth looking into, look out on the forum for the time being for race details if any new system become cheaply available, no doubt Keith will let members know through the appropriate channel Now then - lets get back to the task at hand? Colin - did you get any laps practice in?? Matt
