hi all, im steve i recently joined the club juring the indoor meets at new milton and a few sundays at bashley, i was using a yokomo mr4tc but now ive moved on to a cyclone tc, the problem i have is choosing a pinion and spur gear, ive looked online and my internal drive ratio is 2.1667 but i cant remeber for the life of me how to wotk it out,ive looked on gearcharts.com but that confused me further

Final Drive = (spur/pinion) x internal (diff gear/centre gear)
example; 60 spur, 40 pinion, 32 diff, 16 center
(60/40) x (32/16) = 3 (fdr)

Yes 3.6 is a good 17.5 (depending apon speedo)starting point for out doors and somewhere close to 5.0 for short indoor tracks ....good luck any further probs ask away There are some good on line free gear chart sites, just add your favored spur/pinion and internal ratio(2.166) and it will work it out for you

Hi Steve,
PM me what spur gears you have and I will print you off a ratio chart. It's easy done.
As others have said an FDR of around 3.5/3.7 for Bashley running a 17.5 is about right.

im running a 68 spur , 40 pinion , which seemed good on my 17.5 as people saw , i might switch to a 38 pinion to see how that stands. i use www.gearchart.com to work mine out for the cyclone TC its 2.16 transmission ratio , so the maths is spur gear divided by pinion gear times ratio for mine that ment 68 / 40 x 2.16 = 3.67 im gonna try 68 / 38 x 2.16 = 3.87 in the near future
