I'm looking for advice from those who have run RP30s in comparison to sorex 32s,
we all run 32s with at this time of year, but how do 30s compare, more grip? less grip? last longer? how many quick runs do you get from a set? do they like heat? do they like wfx?
Many thanks for your comments!

Many thanks for your comments! When I first starting running outside last year I ran RP30's but soon changed to Sorex 32's. IMO the Sorex 32's give more grip and definitely outlast RP's (Just remember Matt I don't run new tyre very often so these are my findings with part worn's ). If you want to try a set I have some kicking around but will they will have had indoor additive on them (don't know if that makes a difference). I do however like the RP30's as an indoor tyre on carpet, has a good feel and does last well (as do most tyres indoors)

Indoors do they need heat? RP30s seem to be the control tyre for Chippenham, well there seems to be a choice rp30 or rp24 - i presumed 24s would be to soft and get chewed up quickly by a 13.5 or a 10.5 I love the way sorex 32s are as loose as hell at the start of a run with no heat, and how you HAVE to keep them warm like we were talking about yesterday.

Maybe RP24s would work okay in that bleeding cold hall at Chippenham?

When I first started outdoors I ran RP30's... I managed to overheat them in around 15/16 laps (Went grainy and scrubbed up)..
I don't think I'll be using them outside again. Although I may try them indoors.

I must admit I'm pissed off they're not using sorex as the control tyre, come the end of the season I'll have hundreds of part used sets of sorex 32s... (waits for martin to say he'll have them :-P)
On a serious note tho.. where else uses RPs? - Ed what do they use at Carpet Wars?

We had to run RP30s for the Juniors last year and the year before. After one run (27T) they were clearly knackered -- sure would not want to use them with 10.5

come the end of the season I'll have hundreds of part used sets of sorex 32s... (waits for martin to say he'll have them :-P) I'll have them. ;D ;D Seriously a few years ago RP-24's and RP-30's were the Chippenham control tyre. Both tyres work well but unless you have a car that is kind to its front tyres I found the RP-24 (even on a cold day in Chippenham) got a little hot and the car started to oversteer towards the end of the 5mins. Some ran them successfully other like me struggled and ended up running the RP-30's. In actual speed during the 5mins both tyres were very similar. You wont chew them up though like using them outdoors, usually it just starts to affect the handling unless you car is very heavy on its boots. In answer to your question about heating them, just the same as any tyre warming them at the start of the race will give you an advantage for the first couple of laps.

Last years at the wars, we originally started out on Xenon 28's They were/are a good indoor tyre... last very well, with little drop off run to run... However, there were two issues. One was a very brittle wheel, usually would end up junking one or two a meeting because of cracking, and they had quite a big profile, and a small air-gap. This made them quite nervous to drive, which wasn't an issue when everyone ran them.. but due to the wheel issue, they allowed Sorex 28's... which were slightly quicker to start, but dropped off faster... however with a smaller diameter tyre, they were also much easier to drive. So by the end of the series, pretty much everyone had switched to 28's For you Matt, I'd grab a set of the RP30's... they'll give more than enough grip indoors, and will last an age. My personal favourite indoor tyre is still the Vtec 27... awesome HiH Ed
