Stop Pess: Photons new top deck designed by CEFX racing is lower than the Lipo with a totaly new approach to flex/grip.
This car is winning most major comps in the US even in STD form!

wow that looks really funky! the top deck stops before it gets to the motor... and the motor is held in place by 2 screws at the bottom? you dont want to get t-boned with that on....
not seen anything like that before :s
surely with a single strip of carbon down the middle, its relying purely on the bottom chassis for the flex and using the top deck just as a safety strut to stop the chassis flexing to much and breaking under impact?
is it a TOP product or third party?

At the moment its a third party CEFX, an RC engineering company owned and ran by the designer of the Photon Josh Cyrul.but I believe if this design proves to work well TOP will distribute it. From what I can gather: At the moment the "kit" Photon is superb in low grip and the stock classes due to the amount of grip it generates, but in high grip with more power the chassis "winds " up like a rubber band and bogs down reducing corner speed. the idea "I think" is to keep a certain amount of flex but to dampen/reduce/spread the "wind up" effect..this is something another well known make is suffering from at the moment.( poor performance at the worlds) The idea behind the thinking is for a Photon showing at the worlds which is normally in high grip hot conditions.Whether Its good for us clubmen in our conditions is debatable I wouldn't worry about strength the Photon in my experience with "other "makes its probably the toughest car out there at the moment. even the distributor Keith moans that he does not sell many spares, fact!

Correction ...Only CEFX will be distributing the conversion,Josh has left TOP to concentrate on his own company.but the Main US drivers are sticking with the STD kit. For those interested theres an article on Red RC and CEFX thread on RC tech. Knowing TOP (Japanese) if this conversion proves to work they will no doubt copy and possibly improve on it..so might other manufactures?? Ill be sticking with the STD kit,its fast and tough enough thanks
