Hi all Have just tried to fit a new servo (to ansmann) and it just does not seem right. The servo is brand new (left over from savage) 10 kg and digital. I centralised the servo from handset and fitted the horn. All epa was back to 100 (125 is max) and trim was in center. Now i have to force the horn to move the steering, it seems to work when turned on a(at the handset) but not at all when off any ideas what ive done wrong. Hope the description is ok.

when the radio and car are on.. can you control the wheels through the transmitter? if you can't when the radio is on, and the car is on, can you turn the wheels left to right actually on the car? Matt (have you tried selling it on ebay? )

Hi matt. Yes the trans turns the wheels when both are on. Just not when turned off (really stiff). where as the mi4 just glides, no resistance at all. (i'll put you on blinking e-bay)

thats fine then...
It's probably because it's a really heavy duty servo - the one in the mi4 is a brushless, high grade one.. so it'll feel lighter..
I'm gonna take a gamble and say it's all fine!
Matt

Thanks matt this may sound silly but if its a 10kg servo does that also mean it will take 10kg to force it back. If that makes sense ? EG 10kg of force to turn and 10kg to resist it

nah I don't think so, as it's not powered
as far as I'm aware the 10kg rating refers to how much "weight" the servo can move a set distance away from the centre point.

Thanks Les and Matt, Les i will try (work permitting) work really gets in the way of hobbies. Just had a thought Some horns seem to fit the splines correctly but when the fitting screw is tightened it pushes the horn on too far and foul the casing causing it to feel stiff (bind) ie the depth of the horn boss is too deep.Slacken the screw or take it out and see if the stiffness is still there...make sure you can still see a little of the servo splines when the horn is fitted and tightened......hope this made sense Chris
