A couple of us have been talking about the possibility of introducing a new little something to indoors - read on to know more!
Mardave V12!!
Mardaves are rear wheel drive, solid axle, foam cars with realistic looking shells, they're also 1:12 scale so are smaller than a tourer!!
So what's that got to do with us??
Well the Mardave is an extremely cheap kit! the whole thing with wheels and tyres comes in at just under £60! (includes a body, chassis, tyres, wheels the works)
Ok Matt, still not getting where you're going with this?
Mardave + pro eco speedo & motor + 4 cell nimh pack = V.cheap fun for the winter!
The bodies are made out of ABS 3mm thick, so it'll never wear out! If you break a wishbone, they're under £2.50 a pair! Tyres don't need any special treatment before we run them! no warmers, etc etc! and they're bargain basement cheap to buy also!
OK I'm interested what else?
Well the car has a 3mm steel chassis, it's v.basic in construction so it allows for you to be creative at home, the car uses self tapping screws so no specialist tools are required and you could really go to town on the technicalities of setup and tuning even on such a basic car!
Thought about any rules yet?
Yeah, You must have fun! oh and No hop-up's that you've bought! if you want to modify it, get in the garage and play with it yourself! it's not all about the Money in this class! That's it! buy it, run it, love it!
((This post is based on conversations with a fellow racer, I'm not acting as part of the committee etc.. so don't moan at them if you don't like it! Moan at me!))

what about a servo?
it does come with a G2 motor - use that or an Ansmann 21T (which would have more than enough power and be a real leveller
run a lipo if you want it's 4.2V when fully charged the Nimhs will charge to 5.X V so you'll be at a slight disadvantage??
you fancy it too then?

Could 12ths run in with them if numbers were low ? If it wasnt for the fact I have put sunk a bit of money and time into my 12th for the winter I would be up for it. Saying that I like the look of the Caterham 7 carbon effect shell, See how the class goes I could be tempted. If there is enough racer in the class it would be hard to not want one

I expect half of our members don't remember them been ran, they were extremely popular when we used to run indoors at Bashley village hall, for some reason when we moved to New Milton they died out and FWD minis took over"A new trend at the time" One or two of you may remember I ran one with two other guest members for a couple of weeks to see if we could get some interest? Apart from the kit ,parts and tyres been "peanuts" cheap IMHO they are far more fun, extremely tough, faster and easier to drive than the FWD minis and have proved in kit form to put down laps very close to 17.5 TC's. So if you have a top of the range tourer, run Eco-pro and don't fancy wearing it out or faffing with set up changes between indoors and out but want some cheap maintenance free close racing take a look at Mardaves web site for more info. "Wots that boy been smoking,Elephant dung? " Matt you will need to use additive, the chassis is Alloy and the ABS body is roughly 1mm thick (Armour plated car and lasts for ever!!,I still have my original shell)

This could be quite wicked.
They are practically giving them away on ebay!
