ive just bought a new speed6 shell for my photon , ive cut it on the brca lines , but instead of cutting the arches on the lines , it was cut with the holes arround the arches closer to the wheels/tyres .. if i had cut the arches in the marked bit , there would had been a bigger gap arround the wheels ...... is there a special way of cutting/mounting the shell / do you have the shell to sit as low as possible . ive been told before , that mounting and cutting the shell is as important as car setup ... am i reading / thinking too much into it ...?

it has to be at the correct height to pass club/BRCA rules, and the wing needs to be the correct side..
personally I trim to the highest line all around, then mark posts and ream them out(I put the shell as far back as I can), next I use a ripmax wheel cutter from Terry's to score the arches (whilst the body is on the car) it's a bit like a compass but it can be locked to a size.. then i use curved scissors to cut the arches out and round the entry and exit to the curve. sticker it up, then paint!
HTH!

I use a tip passed onto me by Brian (Jamies grandad) keep my old shell and slot the new one under it to get my post holes. Obviously take the wing off first. As for cutting I think Matt advised me on hight and wheel arches and it they always passed scrutinering at slcc this year.

cheers matt , so you would'nt say its worth cutting to the lower brca line then , i was thinking of chippenham ( i know my shell aint gonna last till then ) ... i wondered if having the shell higher/lower , makes much difference .. like i said with the shell , cut like it is on the lower brca line and without the nasty gap in the wheel arch ...

the higher line gurantees it's not going to catch on the track..
if you look at the speed 6 the wheels cut outs dont match up left to right, so i'm told!

sorry as for height of shell for tuning - i fit all my shells the same and never change them - one less tuning option to worry about!

no the lines don't relate to BRCA it all depends on how they go on the car..
The club has the gear to tell you if you're legal or not.. - but you'll have to ask Dave to find out where the gear is.. I'm happy to help you one weds night..

The BRCA lines on the protoform shells no longer apply, its a hang up from rules that stood a year or two ago. You can now cut the shell to the top line and still be legal within the BRCA rules.
Just a point in all the years I've done Chippenham I've never had my bodyshell checked with the exception of the rear wing size. Chippenham is a fairly relaxed series so i would just cut the shell to the lines and not worry too much.
