OK folks only a few weeks to go until the New Milton pedal car GP 2011. As most of you should already know there is no racing on at Bashley on the 10th July becauce we're loaning our timing loop etc to the GP who have purchased 60+ MRT transponders to time the pedal cars over the 2 hour race.. Which for those who don't know is a big charity event and will be an ideal opportunity for us to promote the club!! I'm looking for 3 or 4 SHMCC volunteers to assist in fitting the transponders (which are boxed with a 9v battery) to each car and help test it over the loop before the car goes to scrutineering.. Tie wraps and gaffer tape are the order of the day hopefully as all entries have been asked to provide a suitable mounting place!! I'm also looking for more volunteers to hand out some leaflets to the watching crowd.. I need to confirm time on the 10th but I would think transponder fitting team would be needed from mid morning... The leaflet team would be needed in the afternoon just before and during the race So come folks please put your hand in the air and help support this great event and your club If you want to learn more about the GP please take a look at the link below.. www.newmiltongrandprix.co.uk/Attachments:

OK folks, we have a little additional challenge for the Pedal Car GP on the 10th..
The Organisers have provided some road space in Old Milton Road opposite the rec ground for us to put on a bit of a display.. I've suggested that we could possibly run something between 12pm (when we should finish transponder fitting!) and 2pm when the race starts..
It would be fab if we could have about 6 cars just to run around and a small stand with a little manned static display..
We could then had out a few SHMCC leaflets and chat to any interested members of the public..
I've checked out the area of the road and it looks OK for touring cars with a little extra ride height.. I'm not proposing a race meeting, just 3 or 4 cars going round at a time so joe public has a taste of what we do...
If you are OK to bring your car down and drive it round for a couple of hours on the 10th, please post here..
Thanks
Dave

OK folks,
It's GO, GO, GO for the New Milton Pedal Car GP this Sunday..
I'll be publishing meeting points, times and car parking facilities in the next couple of days.
However transponder fitting team will be needed between 9am and 12pm and the "display" team needed from around 11am to setup for the display to start from 12pm until 2pm when the actual GP starts..

OK GP team, here we go!! I've attached a map to show our display area and the GP start / finish line with to possible parking areas.. It all kicks off at 9am where as predicted I'll need some help to fit and test the 52 cars with transponders.. I suspect fitting may be a little slow to start but as everyone has to be through scrutineering by 12pm there will be ques waiting for fitment at some point!! I'll be in the race control cabin setting up the laptop etc so if you can help from 9ish come and find me.. Everyone who can assist with the 2 hours of display (12pm - 2pm) please can you get to the display area by around 11:30 to get set up ready for 12 kick off.. You will need everything to keep your cars running on and off for 2 hrs.. so all your batts and a pit table may be wise.. If in doubt send me a PM or post here.. As I've said before this is a really good chance for club promotion on a very popular event, so lets all make the most of it!! Thanks Big Dave See you all Sunday Attachments:

Cheers Dave,
I'll be there in the morning to help out, I'll put my pit bag and 12v in the car, it looks like the display area is quite a way from the parking, so it would be easier to leave the gear in the car and just carry the car, 3 lipos and a radio down! I ideally need to be away by 1pm anyway.
