So I'm in the market for a set of winter tyres as I only have 32's and an old set of wets. What's the tyre of choice these days? Sorex 28 JB or RY?
I don't see RY being listed by Schumacher at the moment in 28's, only the JB's. Are the RY's dead for 28's?

My understanding is that the compound for both tyres is the same but the indoor version has the harder blue insert and has a larger air gap between tyre and insert. You can use both outdoor in fact the so called indoor tyre is preferred in some situations in summer use. The standard Sorex 28 outdoor tyre has no air gap and a softer yellow insert. For winter use the outdoor tyre is the one to go for plus a set of wets of course!!

Yeah the rubber doesnt change, RY and JB are purely different inserts as you said Ian,
ive used RY indoors and outdoors, and recently at chippenham yesterday used JB indoors.
When it gets really cold you can even get 24's if required.

Thanks for the input guys. I was just a bit concerned that the UK importer of Sorex tyres (Schumacher) doesn't have the RY tyre listed and thought it may have been or might be being phased out?
I've brought a set of 28RY tyres and a new set of Wets from Wheelspin Models, that should hopefully see me through this winter.
On that note, is there a preferred local vendor these days now that RR is no longer trading? Lesro? Although that's quite a mission for me to get to.. Does anyone know if I can buy my toys near Southampton?

I guess you dont live in highcliffe anymore then as lesro is 5 minutes away
local place to shop now is just lesro, other model shops in the area are mostly locomotive based.

I also seem to remember some of us using wets when it's been cold to the extreme at Bashley!!!
