Hi Ian, The truck you've linked to is the same as Derek's there isn't much mechanically between the Turnigy and Helion Volition the main difference is the Turnigy is a brushless system and doesn't come with a controller.. The Volition is a brushed system and comes with a controller..
There are around 6 Volition's at the club so if something breaks there is a chance some body might have a spare.. Derek is currently the only Turnigy running..
As for a level playing field, apart from Johns Lossi which is a £400 truck, the Volition and Turnigy are pretty well matched to anything else that has been run.. You have to think of these as the same level as the Ansmann RTR ARE1 Touring car we ran in Eco class a few years ago..
Hope this helps
Dave

Thanks Chaps.
Looks like it could be some massive grids(carnage)on Wednesday evenings. Are the SCTs likely to run every week?
Ian.

Hi Ian,
The plan will be to see how many want to run trucks and how many guys want to run TC.. If we have a minimum of 4 in each class we can run both upto a maximum of 7 TC and say 5 / 6 trucks per heat.. Any more and we will need to wait for longer evenings to get more heats in..

I didn't realise until Sunday how much I've been missing racing TC. But SCTs are fun too! Lets run both!

My son and I bought Durango DESC210 as we already had Durango buggies and the parts are the same. We did the following mods.
1. Servo replaced with a budget (Etronix) high torque digital one. 2. ESC/Motor replaced. It came with Speed Passion 13.5 Cirtix stock combo, but no reverse on the speedo which is handy when you end up in the grass. So the combos went on ebay, I bought two SkyRC TS50 ESCs (£23 each) and we put in some HPI 13.5 motors that we had sitting on the shelf. It's no faster, but does have reverse and the ESC can be programmed unlike the Cirtix stock. And I already had the program box. 3. Tyres replaced with cheap ebay ones (the stock tyres were awful).
Both cars are really good now. And a lot of fun.
I think everyone else runs their cars as they came. We struggled to get ours to turn corners until we replaced the tyres and servo. The ESC/motor replacement was one of convenience.
