and what do we think is going to happen?
Will Lewis fulfill his promise or will Massa stuff him. Has McLaren been blagging it these last few weeks or has Ferrari really got the best car again.
Has the new Brawn GP got the legs or will Button not have the fire.
Has motor mouth Alonso really got a good car this year?
Will BMW finish what they started last year?
Who will be the also rans? All to play for and Saturday morning the truth will be known!

Reckon that Williams, Brawn and Toyota will all be racnig under appeal, but that's another story... As for a result...too hard to call, ask me saturday morning Deffiently think Mclaren has an issue (too many obvious indicators in testing), but not as bad as some have made out... challenging for points is more likely than podium though. Now we'll see what Lewis can actually do... At the front though, BMW, Ferrari, Toyota and Brawn... any one of thoose four could be winners! Ed

Will the loss of Jean Todt make a difference to Ferrari I wonder.
McLaren seemed to be getting on the pace in last testing so should be up there but maybe not in the first race.
I think it will be difficult to beat Ferrari and possibly Renault this year.

I am rooting for Brawn. It is great that a guy that started at the bottom is now a team owner! Take a look at his cv on the brawn web site.

Well after what I thought was a really good start to the F1 season it seems we are back to the old ways.
Hamilton gets disqualified, Trulli re-instated, Vettel and Kubica look likely to get some sort of punishment. I just wonder how long before Button and Barichello get disqualified so Ferrari can be first and second again. I am sure Bernie is working on it.
Do I sound a wee bit cynical? you bet!

Whilst I hate to admit it, from everything I have read it seems that the FIA were correct in their judgement. What IS missing though is any official comment on the telemetry. On the one hand you have Trulli saying Hamiton slowed and pulled over and he had no choice. On the other hand you have Mclaren saying the telemetry shows there was no difference between the two laps. Not that has actually got anything to do with the Hamilton disqualification but it has a very strong bearing on the Trulli decision.
We shall of course be keeping an eye out during the RRC Pro Stock races for anyone speeding after the 1 minute warning and getting advantage from warmer tyres, especiailly ex Chairmen and Treasurers ;D

Certain Tabloids are suggesting McLaren/Hamilton be excluded from this year altogether. How stupid is that!
OK it does seem there was some misleading going on and McLaren have accepted the penalty, probably wisely in hindsight. However I still object to having to wait 4 days for the actual result of the race to be announced/confirmed. I am sure no one would accept that kind of thing in any other sport.
It also seems that Ferrari are taking advantage of all this, keeping their heads down and are currently fastest in practice for Malaysian GP.

We seem to be no better off than last year iro of the FIA/stewards being open in their reasoning for their judgements. There is no publication of a transcript of the hearing: the FIA spokesmen alleges clearly that Maclaren denied there was a team order to Lewis to allow Trulli to re-pass; why would they do that if the assumed/knew the FIA/Stewards had transcripts of the communications? Somebody, and I can’t figure who, is being a bit dumb.
Why is there no publication or even any reference to telemetry which would prove if Lewis had slowed down and pulled over to the right?
Anyway, an interesting interlude on Jenson’s path to World Champion

Would certainly on the face of it appear that McLaren are at fault to some extent at least. However, I also cannot understand why, when it was so blatantly obvious from both post race interviews and in car conversations, what was said you wonder why the stewards did not take any notice of what was said in the first place? Perhaps it is a case of little men needing to be heard.
Best put all this behind and move on although if we are to have this kind of debate after every race then many will lose interest.
F1 is after all no longer the pinnacle of motorsport because of all the restrictions on technology, performance and innovation.

The transcripts of the radio conversation are avaliable to listen too on the F1.com website.... you can CLEARLY here McLaren tell Lewis to let Trulli pass.... www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2009/4/9115.htmland here for the Audio... dl.groovygecko.net/anon.groovy/clients/igentics/australia09/2009_Australia_Hamilton_driveraudio_final.mp3That pretty much seals it in any case, as you can clearly here hamiliton a) be told to let him by, and b) say that he has.... and in interviews after the race he denyed he was instructed too... don't need much more than that to seal their fate. IMO (and I am not a massive Hamilton fan), they lied, they got punished, end of... And with Dave Ryan being suspended (a McLaren man of over 20yrs!) as a result, they seem to be taking this seriously... bet it wouldn't have happened if Ron was there though Still Ferrari's are at the front currently... but consider melbourne, as Brawn didn't top a single session until Q1. My money is on Button to do it again this weekend, as Barrichello now has a 5place grid penalty for a gearbox change.

The problem I have with it is it's not over. The FIA are threatening further penalties and it just goes on and on. Already from the first GP three teams including the winning team are racing under appeal and could still lose there points. I'm sure it will be the same this weekend as well with the other teams still complaining about the diffuser.. The problem is with the money now in F1 and so much at stake it is a fact of life that at some point during a season it will end up in court. I guess the choice is accept it or stop watching.

Unlikely that the three teams will loose there points, as there has been precedence on that before (Ferrari flexiable floor from '04 anyone?)... but it is still a possibility. As for further penalties to McLaren etc, well, they could be said to have brought the sport into disripute (oh how I hate that phrase), but given the public apologies and suspension of staff, lets hope nothing more comes from it. Personally, It all adds to the intrigue... we wouldn't all be discussing it if there wasn't some kind of controversy And if you think that all the arguing and bickering over technical and political issues is bad now, it's F1's very nature to have them... You can site instanses in every decade of major disagrements between teams. A case of always has been always will be

For all those with the power - press the red button on BBC 1 and then choose f1.. then on the blue button there's a video of what actually happened... also the actual radio conversation and lewis's press conference.. I've got a bit of a thing for McLaren but sadly it seems they're well in the wrong. will it stop me wanting them to win - doubt it!!
