That price for a new body is ridiculous! Tamiya will probably be granted or pay for a license to produce F1 stuff for one year only, all moulds will probably have to be destroyed or sent to who ever issued the licence so they then become collectors items hence the huge price. Tamiya may be 100% accurate in their shapes as they also make the static kits but for us who are racing as long as it looks F1 I'm sure that's fine !? How often do you race indoors on a sunday ? I can't make the evenings at the moment So if I get a car and you're only racing indoors my money would be wasted come the summer. Check the calender for race dates. But in short.... Sundays we race Outdoors, Wednesdays we race indoors. However because of the winter, we have put on a few special indoor sunday dates. Currently we have 2 more indoor sunday events planned (21st feb and one in march). Apart from those two, every sunday will be outdoors.

I used the Ansmann 21t for most of the day. High revving motor but not much grunt with a limited gearing choice. In the last final I used a Tamiya Black Can Sport Tuned and felt it was much better with a bit more kick. I’m not interested in running brushless in F1.
The Sport Tuned motor maybe twice the price of the Ansmann but as we well know the Tamiya motors go on for ever and even get better with lots of use. But the Ansmann motors run much softer brushes and would need to be replaced more often.
Another Thought
I was hoping to have an F1 class in the Reality Racing Cup this year and wanted to keep it simple with the cost as low as possible. My initial thoughts were a one make class of HPI’s but this could include other F1’s within a set price range. With Brushed sealed can motors only 7.2v NiCd / NiMh or 7.4v LiPo batteries Rubber tyres from a list of suppliers Maximum price on ESC Limited hop-ups
Of course this is just my thoughts at this time and will depend on if the cars are any good on our track when we eventually get to test them outside in descant weather.

My only comment on the above are as follows: - Hop ups with various different makes of cars may be hard to police?? I would say allow all hop up. IMO like mini's with the exception of one or two most don't make the car faster anyway just bling? - Rubber tyres or foam tyres I'm not sure about. for me i don't mind running rubber tyres as that is what i will do for the production cup but foam is fun! - Speedo's as long as i can run an old speedo thats kicking around in my pitbox that's fine. (That said I will be ordering a cheapy one in the future again for super production cup) I am going to burrow Reubens HPI Saturn 27t motor to try so i will let you know how it goes.

Keeping the rules as similar as possible to the other series that are running F1 nationally seems a good idea to me. I like the idea of a one make restricted class but I guess others may not agree so some sort of compromise needs to be made.
Time will tell if the HPI cars will work OK on tarmac with the tyres suggested. Bit too early to tell yet I reckon.
Restricting hop ups is difficult when other makes are involved. If you buy a Tamiya F104 Pro it comes with all the hop ups so do you then not allow those hop ups to be used on a standard F104?
I see HPI are already listing ball diffs and extra bling parts which may be coming out soon. You know what people are like, extra bling is always a good thing.
Restricting motors helps a lot. Hop ups will not necessarily help to make you go faster if the power of the motor is the deciding factor.

Rules: Take a look on Race chats Pro 10 Flat pan forum..Coventrys Bedworth club seem to run the F1s,theres a big debate on F1 rules at the moment........wierd Ideas though!...Unrestricted motors ..A bit O.T.T! Apparently the F1's with rubber do work on tarmac going by the motors that are ran at some clubs...13.5/10.5s All Im interested in is some fun at the Club,as long as its fair, cheap and easy for all ability's.

Martin was quick again last night with his foams ,Terrys new softer rubber was an improvement and perahps some minor tweaking with set up should make them better.
Various motors were tested by the lads last night with some interesting results,so far the "old" 540 silver can seems to be a good compramise for all abilitys on our small track with perhaps the Ansman 15t for outdoors.
Hopefully Jamie and I will have our 3racing F109's up and running by next wed.

Ok my F1 is built.
3Racings F109 is a good build with only very minor niggles,it come with a ball diff and the latest "link pod" technology apparently for better grip? The body shell and dam/defuser moulding are superb and certainly give the car a very good scale appearance....With a retail price of £115 im impressed!!
Weds nights testing will be the Ansman 28t sealed 540 with a £35 speedo on kit foams(rubber tyres soon to be available)

Now Im even more impressed the F109 drove like a dream "out of the box"...looks on the track too As for motor choice so far the 28t Ansman Clash(sealed 540 cheapy) seems plenty fast enough for our indoor track"it kept me on my toes" giving lap times of only 0.5 a second behind the Brushless tourer's IMHO the F1 class is well entertaining for any one and serious fun to drive without been a micro missile, its certainly an extremely cheap alternative compared to 12th for any serious TC driver who needs to sharpen the reactions and learn throttle skills. Cant wait to give it a go on Tarmac! Reubs the 12th comment is not a Knock comment chap purely my thoughts,I did give 12th a serious consideration a little while ago but after speaking to you regarding cost it and Knowing that they can be a bit "tricky" it put me off

So no F1 class in the Reality Cup then. Shame as I was looking forward to racing mine outdoors.

Don't you worry about that Ian - it's all in hand...
It wasn't added to Reality Racing Cup as it hasn't generated any new members (yet) from our existing TC base, however we've got something else in the pipeline, second week in February you should know more! (gives us time to finalise the rules for the class before we publish anything specific!) Still looking for someone to update/rewrite the class rules into something that's Suitable to everyone!
