Ide love to give one a go to see how it compared in lap times vs older 17.5, see if I could squeeze 19 laps out of a 22t Maverick. Maybe I could borrow a pro-eco car for a day..... So long as it doesn't get too emotional I can reunite you with your old Mi4 for that challenge

On the subject of Pro Eco class, yes the 21t Ansmann motor is used and if you look at the fastest times a 19 lapper is very close. I think Terry managed an 18.304 at some point.
However there are some significant advantages in this class that may appeal to both newcomers and to seasoned pro's who cannot handle the ballistic speed and wear rates of modern high cost brushless racing....OK I mean me!
Firstly the motors are only £8 each, use for a few months and throw away. Then the speedos, as we all use the same ones, are only £40? I think and they are certainly not overstressed so should last for ever. With no adjustments to either motor or speedo the speeds are pretty much identical which leads to very close racing. It also opens up the chance for those people to learn the best set up methods as to win (apart from staying on the track) you need to have a really good car.
There also seems to be a very low wear rate on transmission parts as there is not a huge amount of "punch" from these motors. This means that tyres also last forever so again a much cheaper option than some other classes.
Something else I have noticed, the motors are half the weight of a brushless system which allows a much better and easier balance to be obtained on the car.
Ok so I know this class is not the "top" racing class and many of you will not want to be in it BUT...it is a really good intermediate class that can teach people a lot about driving, carrying corner speeds, car set up and of course most importantly, how to have FUN.

Only fair if you use a Out of the packet 21t motor - we all know they get faster with a bit of running in. Then its truely down to driver ability But you might see me trying it soon, not this weekend

I'd happily buy a motor for the challenge..as it does sound like a lot of fun, but not sure I would want to spend £40 on a speedo to try it out..
I think my Tekin speedo does brushed, but then I think thats not allowed in the rules as it's over £40.

If its for just a fun meet "who cares"......There is ways to make a sealed can faster, little cheats to get the edge and to be honest they can make big difference. But should we decide to run this fun meet ,perhaps as a Xmas special? Terry could "bring on the day" a hand full of boxed motors for the faster bunch to run and you take your pick? ....and no sneaking off to the tap to dunk it running underwater ,no long nose pliers to bend the brush tabs to advance the timing either or soaking the com/brushes in &%?@ ;D.....oh and no Nimhs or Nicads!! We could always equal the playing field some by sticking (as close as one can ) to a set FDR.When I tested the 27t Ansman I think I was runing very close to 6.0 with the Podium ESC (set 18.302 laps)but the motor had been "dunked" in soapy water to bed in the brushes, thats all honest

Obviously no timing though. sometimes with fun racing the rules can over complicate things I think. Just my opinion though. ;D

If its for just a fun meet "who cares" Awesome.. sounds great. Count me in for this then if we arrange a date. I've always wondered if I would be any good at racing a pro eco..
