We still are running 10.5 Martin. Just not in Reality Cup - due to entry numbers mainly.
If 10.5's turn up to the track they will still run with 13.5's in qualifying and finals. But their final position will count for their own championship table - in effect you could call it F1 and F2 (but its superstock and prostock). All competing on the track together but going for separate champ points.
And yes when we put 10.5's in that day. we were a bit sketchy but it was a great challenge and more luck that judgement going into and out of the corners. great fun

Sorry i didn't put my point forward very well, I understand that the club will continue to run 10.5, but reading this thread it is taking some stick and criticism.

[quote author=martinyoung board=general thread=1776 post=14963 time=1268392600 I agree that a 17.5 class is required for beginners but just please consider the class at club and regional level is the hardest fought class with probably the highest financial cost (especially motor speedo and possible cells) in order to be competitive. Just my thoughts! [/quote] 13.5 has already gone this way unfortunately Martin, My beef is not the ESC upgrade cost so much its the speed, the cost is and always has been there(worse in years gone by)we had this last year with the introduction of the stock spec/GM's,we all followed suit ,..this seasons no different....one things for sure cost will escalate with speed due to wear and tare!.....13.5s this season will be having 10.5 runing /overhaul costs. Trust me to keep a 10.5 car compedative at a good level it needs to be very very tight....It will double your wear compared to a 17.5.

The question is what's the answer with regards to both speed and cost? I haven't got one. I think roll over and admit defeat ;D ;D

Ive been fighting for a true stock class since the demise of 27t and the release of the 17.5. For those who choose to run 13.5 at a compedative level and do well this season be prepared to have higher maint costs, cause runing close to 10.5 speeds with a "sloppy car" is hard work no mater how good your set up is!

Holy grail rather than worms? Even have it as as sub class like F2 aimed at newbies but open to all? Easy to police.

That may well be the way to go for an eco stock class, but there may be probs if the combo is manufactures specific, other makers/distributors should be encouraged to get involved with equal power stakes and that will be hard to do,Basically if this good idea was to take off it would need a governing body like the BRCA TO TAKE NOTICE !!! and introduce or at least recommend guide lines for clubs and regional comps....After all we follow all their other guide lines but the clubs and comps have been neglected with power rules....to busy listening to national "elite" drivers who seem to be the only voters ???and not the majority of us,the clubman!!!! (sorry to harp on ;D) The trouble with us Brits is we are "snobs" there may well be a stigma attached to driving Eco stock class...a bit like saying "I drive a Skoda" or a Corvette LOL

The Speed Passion idea is OK but maybe a step forward from that. I am no electronics expert but for sure there must be a set of parameters that a speedo can be manufactured to and not exceed that will limit it like the Speed Passion one. If this is so there would be no reason why any manufacturer could not produce the same so not leaving them out of the mix. If that was possible and manufacturers agreed to the same limits it would stop most of the problems surely?

A Plug in different class amp and rpm limiter is needed then we could all run a mod that would last for years....but thats a sci fi dream,Is'nt it???.....I bet one could be made though, better stiil we all have progamable esc's that can be downloaded with "a class limitaion" ....it will never happen, manufactres will never let it!

I am sure it could Les. A plug in rev limiter to suit any speedo coupled with a lipo limit and job sorted. Manufacturers could make whatever they wanted, clubs could run whatever classes they wanted. Sounds a wicked idea. There must be a problem with it though......

Electronically simple to produce??dunno...Practical yes, equal yes...problem, Money!! no more "its the dogs" the one to have sales, we made it for pence but we will "stick it up you " cause its the fastest and you are daft enough to pay...and moan ...plus motors will rarely pop.

What will be interesting is to see the results of the SPC Cup after this weeknds first round. One of the classes is the Team Magic cup and is the basic stock touring class. The interesting point is there is a set brushless system everyone has to use. 17.5 motor and fixed esc (HARD brand I understand). I think it could be interesting to see how many people decide to do it and how competitive it is. Remeber this takes over from the Tamiya Eurocup which has been so popular over many years.
The brushless system is fixed price at £80 as well so not expensive.
